Neon is one of those trends that can strike fear into the hearts of even the most creative of bag lovers. What are we supposed to do with neon? Is wearing it just going to make us look like trend-worshippers, or is it a legitimately fun thing to have around? Don’t worry, incorporating it into a wardrobe is easier than you think, and I promise that wearing or carrying a bit of neon will bring a smile to your face.

If you’d like to keep things on a very neutral level, allow me to suggest the Marc by Marc Jacobs Saddlery Cadet Bag. The taupe lulls onlookers into a false sense of security – oh, what a cute beige bag – but as soon as you turn a little bit, they get a peek at the acid green piping along the leather’s edges.

There’s nothing I love more than a surprise detail, and since I’ve already decided that I’m going to embrace the neon trend, this little bag is the best of both worlds to me. I like that the combination of a staid neutral and neon green is totally unexpected; the end result feels high-end and witty instead of faddish. Who would have guessed that neon can be subtle? This is indeed a very nice handbag. And I like it that with the grey and the conservative shape, the handbag is not too trendy. So you can wear it for years. Who would have thought that neon (seriously, neon?)could actually look cute?

I don’t personally wear beige, but this is a nice little bag.

Totally agree with Amanda. A clever way to introduce neon to the mainstream – mix it with pale neutrals.

Ah, I love this! I often lean towards neutral bags, but this is a great way to add neon. I remember Marc doing something similar a couple years back with a pair of flats. The flat itself was white (I believe), and the bottom was neon yellow. So when you walked, you flashed a gorgeous yellow sole.

It’s gorgeous, and a good size for light days.

Like this bag a lot. Also liked it when Rebecca Minkoff did neon trim on her black cat Morning After Clutch (hot pink or yellow). a personal favourite of mine.
