For all the complaining I’ve been doing lately about the stagnation of the Marc by Marc Jacobs aesthetic, they’ve finally put out a little bag that made me sit up and pay attention. Of course, things that are as shiny as the Marc by Marc Jacobs Embellished Dot Shoulder Bag tend to have that effect on me.
The shape of this bag is familiar to those of you who have looked at MbMJ’s line recently, but the exterior effect and material are decidedly different. Beading atop suede (or suede in general) is not something for which Jacobs’ diffusion line is known, but I like the small change of pace quite a bit.
“Day-to-night” is probably an overused fashion term, but it was made for little bags like this one. It’s big enough to hold your essentials and can be carried comfortable on the shoulder, but it’s also small enough to wear out at night and glitzy enough to be special. For the price, two solid purposes for a bag isn’t bad, and here’s hoping that this piece is a sign of more to come. Buy through Neiman Marcus for $378.
