LAI Patent Pamela Top Handle

LAI Patent Pamela Top Handle

There are few things more glamorous than a really great patent bag. Because of the overwhelming shininess, it can be hard to create one that’s not either tacky or mumsy, but when it happens, it’s beautiful. Which is exactly what the LAI Patent Pamela Top Handle is. The success or failure of a patent bag rests mainly on two features: color and shape. Luckily, this bag hits them both out of the park.

Because it’s so shiny, patent can look really cheap in the wrong shade. The deep wine color of this bag is anything but inexpensive looking, and I can’t help thinking how great it would look with one of my typically black cold weather outfits. During the winter, my main source of color is my accessories, so bags in vivid hues such as this one are a must for me.

And then there’s the shape – a bit of retro glam, a bit of faux slouch, and a lot originality. Another problem that patent often has is that it looks rigid and untouchable, but the tailoring and tucking on this bag allow it to look like it has a bit of movement, even though I’m sure it probably doesn’t. When you combine that with the monochromatic beauty of the lizard handles, you’ve got something that’s entirely unique. In a bag market where nearly everything is derivative, that says a heck of a lot. Buy through Bluefly for $537.
