JPK Paris Large HoboHas anyone noticed a glut of JPK Paris nylon handbags in stores lately? First I noticed them in Nordstrom, and then I saw them at a boutique this weekend, and now they’re also being carried by Nordstrom’s website. For a bag I had never heard of before two weeks ago, they seem to be showing up in a lot of places.

And maybe that’s for a reason – the JPK Paris Sasha Large Hobo seems like a perfectly reasonable handbag, although I’m not sure about the price.

JPK Paris Large Hobo

As far as nylon bags go, this is certainly one of the nicest that I’ve encountered lately. I’m generally not a fan of the fabric when it comes to high-end bags, but it’s pouring buckets here today and having something non-leather to take outside doesn’t seem like a bad idea. But am I willing to pay several hundred dollars for one? That remains to be seen.

The most impressive part of this bag is its construction. It’s fully lined, just as if it were made of leather, and the strap is wide, thick, and substantial. My favorite part is the hardware – it’s chunky and well-designed, and it takes center stage against the simple backdrop that this bag provides.

The hardware, leather handle, and full lining make this bag a little heavier and a lot more substantial-feeling than you’d expect of a nylon bag, and I mean that as a compliment. They’ve full succeeded in taking something drab and refining the details to make it high-end, and I wish I had one to carry in today’s weather. Buy through Nordstrom for $245.

But what about paying less for a slightly different style? I paid $165 for my bucket bag and I absolutely love it. (got it here: http://www.ethoughtfulthings.com/jpk-handbags-navy-bucket-bag.html)

I agree that this nylon bag’s fabric is really nice, and durable. If you spill anything you can wipe it right off and in the rain you don’t have to worry one bit. This summer my bag even saw a run-in with a melted Italian Ice and no one would ever know.

I’ve had my JPK Bucket Bag (a bit smaller and less pricey than the one Amanda describes above) and I absolutely love it. I can fill it up with everything I need, including my work shoes and a sweater.

JPK bags turn heads because of the eye-catching colors and simple but chic design. Personally, I think the price is amazing for the quality bag you are getting.

As for “glut” in Nordstroms and other stores, maybe they’re just ahead of the demand? Just last week a co-worker told me both her mom and sister have the bucket bag that I have and she is saving up for one of the bigger bags.

I too have seen this bag at Nordies and I thought they were really nice quality bags but thought nothing of it after I left the store. Yesterday at Best Buy, I saw a woman carrying the large hobo bag pictured above in orange. I litereally stared at the woman’s bag and asked her how she liked the bag so far. She said she LOVED the bag and the color orange. She receives compliments on it more than any other bag brand she has ever owned. She even showed me the lining inside and how generous the bag is and the side pockets. Lovely! So, that evening, I went and ordered the bag at Nordies.com in black. I can’t wait!

I love those. Pity I’m not a lady and cannot wear them!
