I am always interested to learn information about designers that I might not be able to find by simply searching online. When I began looking into Ellie Handbags, I was thrilled. Not only are the bags fabulous with several sizes, textures, and looks to choose from, but they are also incredibly reasonable. In fact I was almost shocked to see how reasonable they are especially given the fact that gorgeous and flawless Italian leather is used.

Take the Melita for instance. The animal stamped shiny patent Italian leather is not only practical but it is down right breathtaking. This really is the kind of bag that would do just about any handbag lover justice. The bag is spacious while not being bulky and awkward. Silver hardware adds to the shimmer and shine of the bag. Guess how much you are going to drop for this, ready? Buy through Ellie Online for $425.

No, I’m not joking!

Founder and Creative Director, Ellie, of Ellie Handbags took some time to answer a few quick questions. In fact, there are only a few questions because it’s really just a teaser. Stay tuned because I’ll be heading to LA in the next few weeks and will be bringing back all sorts of wonderful stories, including more information about Ellie!

This Viviana Clutch is eye popping. I am not usually a huge fan of calf hair, but in this case it is extremely soft and touchable, not coarse. Add it to your collection for $325.

PB: How long have you been interested in handbags?

Ellie: My interest in handbags started when I was a little girl watching my mom carefully select just the right one to go with her outfit each morning. Her closet, bursting with colorful bags (and shoes!) was like being in a candy store. The idea of always having the perfect bag was with me as I grew up. And, on a fateful trip to Italy in 2004, I made the decision to provide handbags to others who shared that feeling.

PB: Now that you have a few collections, is there a certain bag you would say is your absolute favorite?

Ellie: Boy, that’s a hard question. there are several! I’m wearing the melita bag in denim a lot – it looks great with jeans and it’s just so comfy. I also love the natalia bag because you can put your whole life in it. Then there’s the Isabella – it’s so casually elegant and the green one just pops.

PB: What is your main inspiration?

Ellie: The colors and textures of the leathers are definitely inspiring. It’s almost dizzying to see the variety of gorgeous leathers the manufacturers are producing now. How can you not be inspired?

PB: And for fun, if you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be/why?

Ellie: Apart from florence, which is the most beautiful city I have ever visited, give me a beach. The sun, the beautiful white sand, the sound of the rolling waves, a little cocktail and my husband. That’s paradise.

You want a day to day bag that is a little smaller than the Melita, try the Gemma Shopper. The leather is beyond soft and the double rolled handles provide all the support you might need while running around town. Plus there are several colors to choose from: black, gray, purple and taupe. Buy for $435.

And finally, the Natalia. Megs and I had a chance to see this bag in black and it really was stunning. The crocodile stamped Italian leather can be either pearlized or patent leather. The double handles can go either on your shoulder or can be used to simply carry in hand or rest on your arm. Again, this is a bag that would be perfect for day to day use but can also work at night. Buy for $475.

So, you’ve seen a few bags, you’ve read a bit about the designer… what do you think? Definitely visit the Elllie Handbag site for a complete list of handbag designs.
