Easily the best part of my job is that we often get a chance to go visit showrooms and see lots and lots of lovely bags that haven’t quite made it to store shelves yet. Last week we were lucky enough to meet the couple behind Meredith Wendell, and while getting acquainted with several of the brand’s upcoming collections, the Meredith Wendell Fishbowl Shoulder Bags jumped out at me immediately. I couldn’t be happier that they popped up on Net-a-Porter over the weekend.
Lately, I’m obsessed with finding bags that are exactly the right size. Living in New York means having to carry anything that you want to take anywhere on your body, which is a luxury that I absolutely took for granted when I had a car. I can no longer toss a too-heavy or too-large bag into the passenger seat of my car for the bulk of the time that I have it with me, so size is of the essence. A bag needs to be large enough to comfortably fit everything that I need, but it can’t add weight or awkwardness to my load.
This bag fits those parameters beautifully, and it does it with a very stylish twist: Meredith Wendell’s signature bold color and texture combinations. That, along with the very mod shape of the bag (which can also be used as a clutch), makes this design a very unique bag that doesn’t sacrifice functionality. The black and green color combination is my favorite, it’s beautiful in person. It also comes in cobalt suede, which is nothing to sneeze at either. Buy in green suede, leopard calfhair or red patent for $545 via Net-a-Porter.
