Best Bet: Rafe Celia Large Satin Clutch

Usually, there are two things guaranteed to make a bag enormously expensive: exotic materials and a significant amount of detailing, like beading or embroidery. Somehow, the Rafe Celia Satin Clutch manages to combine both of those elements, plus a generous proportion, and still slide in right under $300.

That snakeskin you see up top? That’s not embossed, that’s the real deal. It’s not the entire clutch, but at this price point, its very existence in any amount pretty impressive. The majority of the clutch’s body is satin, which mostly serves as canvas for the bag’s intricate-yet-neutral beading. It’s a little deco, a little tribal and would go with so many outfits because of its use of black, silver and gold. Holiday parties are coming up, and it goes without saying that this bag would be a great pick for such soirees, the holidays being the heavily shiny period of time that they are. Because the clutch isn’t overly precious, though, it’s not the kind of bag that would need to be confined to the season.

At a totally functional 11 inches wide, this clutch can hold all your essentials without that unattractive super-stuffed-clutch look coming into the equation. It’s a year-round, heavily detailed, exotic-trimmed clutch for $295 via Neiman Marcus, which is a sentence that seems almost impossible even as I type it.
