Roberta di Camerino Zebra Bag

Mar 24, 2009 / Posted in Satchels by Amanda Mull.

I full admit that my taste level can be, at times, a little loose. I like shiny things. I like brightly colored things. And I really, really like animal-print things. As a result, I also really like the Roberta di Camerino Zebra Bag. It’s ittby bitty, but I can’t help but think that that means it’s just the right dose of a sometimes-tacky fabric to spice up an outfit that would otherwise be kind of average. What I’m trying to decide, though, is if the shape of the bag and its handle structure make it more suited for an older woman than a younger girl.

Roberta di Camerino Zebra Bag

I could see a woman in a black boucle Chanel suit wearing this and some pearls – after all, when you’re that rich, you don’t need to haul around everything you own in a giant handbag. You can afford to leave home with just the essentials, because there’s someone else coordinating everything non-essential on your behalf. That must be nice…anyway, I digress. I’m not sure that just any young girl could pull this bag off, but with the right amount of edge, it could potentially be great with a cute black dress and some other chunky accessories when going out at night. And it’s zebra print…oh, how I love zebra print. Buy through Barney’s for $1795.

I like my share of the tacky/shiny but I think this is just a little too little for me to pull off.
Don’t be afraid of prints you love – they don’t have to be small, as long as they’re not everywhere in your outfit.

I love zebra print and I like that kind of shape for a bag so I was staring at this bag for a period of time, but as much as I like those qualities, I would never buy this bag… I do not like the clunky looking closure and the size of the bag compared to the handles…

I would like to see the animal print thing subside/die a quiet death. Not feelin’ it at all….

I don’t like the zebra and the size. I need to lug around everything :) But I agree it is for the older woman.

Alas, traveling makes small bags like this impossible for me.

It’s a cute bag; the animal print is bold and fun –though that trend IS wearing a little thin over time–but I probably wouldn’t carry it. It’s really only sized for evening and I think it would look a bit old lady-ish with dressy clothes. And with club clothes I would choose other bags before I’d choose this one. Plus it looks awkward to carry. Altogether I pass on this one.

it does look a bit old ladyish. the only non-old ladies i can imagine this bag with is holly golightly-type women (from breakfast at tiffanys).

I think with the right outfit and event it could work. The price is a little much for me though.

cute bag. zebra print just doesn’t seem to shout out as much as leopard prints. like the subtle-ness of it.

It’s a nice costume/trendy bag…. It would’ve actually gone really nicely with my prom dress… however, I didn’t/don’t have the budget to pay that much for a one-time-use bag!
