Louis Vuitton Cuir GrainÃ© Doctor’s Bag

It seems as though our readers’ interest in and opinions of Louis Vuitton handbags are nearly unending, so when I saw a pictures of a select few of the brand’s Fall 2010 handbags, I couldn’t wait to share my favorite with you: the Louis Vuitton Cuir GrainÃ© Doctor’s Bag.

It was clear as soon as the brand’s Fall/Winter 2010 show hit the runway that the collection’s tone was to be much more subdued and mature than the neon foxtail charms and graffiti-layered monogram that has characterized the Vuitton aesthetic as of late, but seeing one of the show’s key bags in such stark relief hammers the point home. These are not your grandmother’s Louis Vuitton bags, but the two eras might have a few things in common.

This bag might look like a bit of a throwback, but as long as you don’t pair it with an outfit made entirely of 50s-appropriate garb, there’s no reason that it can’t look sophisticated and modern. The midcentury look is going to be huge for fall, and a handbag is a great way to incorporate the idea without having it take over your entire wardrobe – there’s no need to leave the house wearing a Mad Men costume (but if you want to, go right ahead).

Soft, smooth leather are the obvious attraction on this bag, and the limited hardware and lack of external pockets and zippers makes the muted color really stand out in a way that it might not on another bag. The neo-Speedy shape is a Louis Vuitton classic, and they’ve done an admirable job of updating it for people that may not have cottoned to the brand’s offerings from the pervious several seasons.

The pricing information for this bag isn’t available yet because it won’t hit stores until the end of the summer, but when we know more, so will you. If I had to guess, I’d guess $2500-$3500.

i love it it gives me more of a bottega vibe but i do love it very classic grey reminicent of the toile trianon in grey with the brass hardware very nice i truly love it.

I think it is missing just a little something – no not a logo, thank goodness, wish they did more bags without feeling the need to plaster their logos all over it, we get it, we know who you are.

I quite like the bag though, albeit just a fraction bland, but it’s stylish, the colour is lovely and of course as it’s been mentioned just needs to be teamed with the right clothing to work.

Love the look of the bag – absolutely chic. My only hangup with this type of bag is that the functional element. If you have this over your arm – isn’t it a bit of a hassle to get in and out of your bag if say…you had a coffee, bag, baby, etc in the other? It just seems too ladylike and not functional in a modern sense.

  I agree. My Mom had this type of bag, and she used to sit it on something when she had to open it. The color is beautiful, but the bag reminds me of Tippi Hedren in “The Birds” with her mink coat and gloves. Not for me.

This bag is definitely a must have, its a good investement considering that this will be good in a casual dressy wear, like a floral print soft fabric polo shirt, then paired it with a denim skirt, add drama with a peep toe heels, this bag can pull off any look that you have. This is a must have bag.. beleive me, every season this will last.(fb)

I think the bag is versatile, can be matched with formal and casual look. The slight slouchyness gives me a nice feminine touch. I’m not be fan of LV but I won’t flaw this bag either. This is such a different style for LV, I would almost guess it to be a Hermes before thinking it was LV! Nice way to keep us guessing MJ. It’s a bit too plain for me, although I like the extreme structure, but it’s definitely better than those fox tails!
