For our last business trip to New York City, we knew it was time to step up our game. For the purpose of showcasing wonderful new bag candy, images did the job, but video was definitely better. Without further ado, we’re proud to present our first official Purse Blog Video coverage. In full 720p high definition and then some!

Our first victim of this cunning stunt was successful designer and friend Rebecca Minkoff. She took her time to present her upcoming goodies for Spring 2010. In our next video, we will have a whole interview with Rebecca, along with a further preview of her creations.

Yesterday the world lost arguably the biggest pop star in the world. A man that redefined the music industry as we know it today, the world is remembering Michael Jackson. While many mourn, many are playing his music and remember the musical genius. Michael Jackson sold 3/4 of a billion albums, was known for his moonwalk, was in the music scene for 40 years of his 50 year life, and became known for his fashion choices such as his glittered glove. His influence on the music industry can be seen by many of the artists we listen to today and his fashion choices influenced the world of fashion as well.

The Rebecca Minkoff Matinee flaps on either end of the bag were designed after the legendary red leather jacket Michael Jackson wore in his Thriller video. We covered this bag before when we first saw the resemblance, which was then affirmed by Rebecca. Without knowing it, Michael Jackson’s influence made its way into the handbag world.

A small way for us to say we will remember the King of Pop. Rest in peace Michael Jackson.

I can guarantee you all of one thing: designers and corporate offices have continued to realize the pull that the online realm has. One such example is with Rebecca Minkoff, a designer that we have covered as she started her company through present day, where her bags are known upon first glance and celebrities can not put them down. I don’t doubt that she owes much of her success to the online realm and her fans who have gathered to talk about her bags. We had the pleasure to sit down with Rebecca two weeks ago to ask her your questions, find out more about what is to come, and see her hot new bags. Studs are seen on many of the bags, offering a rocker edge, which is the perfect touch for the gal with a little kick in her step. The colors are popping, the hardware is a mixture of old and new, and the wish lists for these bags are growing.

A hobo is the perfect shape for me. I suppose I sound like a broken record to you all, but I absolutely love a slouchy hobo. In fact, when I see what the girls in Hollywood are wearing and what bags they are carrying I would fit right in. I rarely leave the house dressed to the nines, in fact, I hope none of you see me on my morning errands! On a side note, I do think of that often and wonder if I should probably make sure to spruce up a bit more in case a Purse Blog reader or Purse Forum member runs into me. Anyhow, the Rebecca Minkoff Nikki is a Purse Blog favorite, not only loved by me, but loved by one of our newest members Amanda (and the countless celebs who adore RM bags, like Hilary Duff). Amanda covered this bag in her first post, and I feel the need to update and let you know about two of my favorite colors from RM this season in the Nikki. Best news is, both sea green and persimmon are carried at Shop Bop. I don’t have to go into great detail about this bag, because most of you already know about it. It is a hobo, with an magnetic snap top, inside pockets, and a slouchy appeal. Love it? Me too. Now the colors. There is the sea green, which eases your mind and adds a splash of Caribbean water goodness, and then persimmon which looks as luscious as the fruit it is named after. For me, the problem is choosing which color. Luckily, you can always buy both. $600 through Shop Bop.

We got our hands on some exclusive goods to show you all what is to come from this young, hot designer. Pairing the success of the Morning After with the funky basketweave-like touch, the Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Mini is ready for Holiday in a Navy Luxe Combo. You know why I love this bag? It is the supple deep navy leather paired with the stiff brighter patent leather blue. And while the patent stands out, it is not completely distracting. It is like the perfect little combination of colors that look like blue jeans with a punch.

The size is the same as any Morning After Mini. It does not fit over my shoulder super comfortably, but it looks really cute just dangling around my elbow or hand held. I already have the MAM in Tangerine (which I still am obsessed with). This leather is more luscious than the Tangerine, it is one of the more soft leathers from Rebecca Minkoff.
