PurseBlog Asks: How Do You Store Your Bags?

A couple weeks ago, I posted a photo on Instagram of me putting my Chanel bag in its dustbag and then into its box after I used it. I asked my Instagram followers if they also put their bags away after use.

My question elicited many responses and different viewpoints on how to store your bags, which got me thinking that bag lovers’ storage strategies must be so different. Some bags may just be stuffed into the closets, some might just be inside dustbags. Some bag lovers have massive closets, so each bag has a resting place, and many will go through every step possible to keep their bags pristine as possible. The possibilities run the gamut.

For my nice bags, after I use them I take everything out and put the stuffing back in and then place the bag in its dustbag. If the bag came in a box, I typically put the bag back in the box as well. I don’t do this for every bag, but I do it for my nicer luxury bags, and I really try to keep them in good shape. (You guys know I have a thing about my nice bags).

When I asked if other people put their bags back in their dustbags, many said yes. But it was also the first time I heard someone say that keeping a bag in its box can cause the leather to dry out. I’ve never heard that, and if that’s true, I’d certainly stop keeping my bags in their boxes, so now I’m trying to get to the bottom of that debate.

There’s no better way to learn about how others store their bags than asking, so now I’m turning to you. Do you put your bags in their dustbags and store them on a shelf? Do you also put bags bag in their boxes? Share your tips and tricks when it comes to storing your bags!
