Marc by Marc Jacobs embraces neon for Resort 2012 Marc by Marc Jacobs 1

Why hasn’t Marc by Marc Jacobs done more neon bags before now? The world may never know. It seems like the brand’s young, hip client base would have been the perfect people to embrace the trend early and often, but MbMJ has so far relegated its fluorescents to trim and accents. But no longer – Marc by Marc Jacobs Resort 2012 looks like it’s going to be full of Day Glo neon goodness.

We only have a couple of pictures to show you, but they’re worth a look. The clear winner of this small group is the black and highlighter yellow clutch at the top, and I’ve already mentally moved $350 from my checking account to my savings account to wait for its debut. If only it weren’t going to be six months. Two more shots after the jump.

Fill in the Blank: The Jimmy Choo Catherine Leopard Print Satchel is... Jimmy Choo Catherine Leopard Print Satchel

Structure can be a great design element when implemented properly. In fact, some of the most timeless bags feature a bit of structure to their design, like the Hermes Birkin and Chanel Classic Flap. Yet there are times when a structured bag simply does not work, and this may be one of those times.

The Jimmy Choo Catherine Leopard-Print Satchel uses soft yet structured leather which is offset by leopard-print calf hair. There are double shoulder straps which appear long enough to fling over your shoulder, but because of the bags structure it may sit awkwardly against your body if carried that way. Many pockets make this bag functional, but all the functionality in the world does not help a design that is missing the mark. Oh Jimmy Choo, your shoes have fallen down the rabbit hole as of late, and your bag designs are so hit-or-miss. Buy via Neiman Marcus for $1,795.

Check out Pradas Fall 2011 ad campaign Prada FW11 Adv Camp 01

I love a good ad campaign. Unlike magazine editorials, ads are often designed to show prospective buyers the things that really make money for brands: Bags and shoes. Which, coincidentally, are the things we like most! Fashionista.com got a little preview of Prada’s Fall 2011 ad campaign and were so kind as to share it with the masses, so we thought we’d be so kind as to do the same. Two more photos (both with more bags) after the jump.

Takashi Murakami not just doodling on Vuitton bags anymore murakami summer hp

If you went to Google’s homepage this morning and found yourself thinking that the search giant’s new Doodle looked familiar, it might be because you have some of the artist’s work hanging in your closet. (Or maybe because you’re just a contemporary art fan in general.) The logo above, commissioned by Google to celebrate the first official day of summer, was created by famed Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, he of the longstanding Louis Vuitton collaboration that all of us know and some of us love. Personally, I’d be excited to see a Louis Vuitton or Chanel Google Doodle. Maybe we can lobby to get one for the start of Paris Fashion Week?

Reed Krakoffs latest Boxer Tote is perhaps his best yet Reed Krakoff Boxer Leather and Wool ToteReed Krakoff Leather and Wool Boxer Tote, $990 via Net-a-Porter.

I’ve heaped a lot of praise on Reed Krakoff recently, and all of it is genuine; every time I see one of the man’s bags (and increasingly, his shoes as well), my credit card runs and hides. It just knows. I’m still trying to coax it out from under my bed after laying eyes on the gorgeous Reed Krakoff Boxer Leather and Wool Tote. This shape has become the young brand’s signature, and this mixture of textures and shades might just be the best one so far, particularly when you consider the price.

Man Bag Monday: Killspencer Weekender 2.0 Killspencer Weekender 2.0
Killspencer Weekender 2.0, $595 via Killspencer.com.

Easily one of the most bizarre parts of being a blogger is all the weird email we get. Whether it’s people demanding that we publish their press releases or give them free advertising space, PR people trying to pitch us on stories that couldn’t have less to do with handbags and accessories or the one deranged person who wrote us a 10-paragraph email about how terrible Kim Kardashian is while pretending to be Kardashian herself (yes, it was all in the first person and it was as crazypants as it sounds), the things we receive never fail to entertain. For better or for worse.

But on the good days, our email does occasionally bring us something very special that we actually want to write about, like the Killspencer Weekender 2.0. This sharp, somewhat affordable, extremely versatile bag is our pick for this week’s Man Bag Monday, and we might have never seen it if not for our commitment to sifting through the debris of our inboxes.

RHNJ: Im calm and cool as a whistle. Kathy has mall hair 200x140Last night on Real Housewives of New Jersey. We did a lot of talking. The monkeys didn’t dance this week, not like they’re supposed to on Real Housewives. Instead, they sat around and talking about the talking that would go on later, whether that talking was Teresa’s sit-down with her brother, her eventual meeting with Melissa or Caroline’s new gig talking on the radio.

Sadly, the episode was all talk and no action. Bravo did that (not so) adorable thing that they do where they show us all the build-up to a potentially interesting plot point in one episode and then save the actual plot point for next week, which means that we sat through a whole lot of nothing for an hour last night. Well, it wasn’t nothing I guess. It was talking. And that might be worse? It’s hard to tell.

Let's be best friends.
