Known for their amazing clutches, VBH has been a longtime favorite with the Purse Blog team. Gilt Groupe has VBH on sale right now, check it out for amazing deals!
I have never been much of a fan of Prada. Not for any particular reason; they’re just not my thing, but I can understand why others are so passionate about them. The leather is usually supple and beautiful and I’ve heard wonderful things about their quality and construction. Nice leather, classic shapes, and durability – you can’t ask for a whole lot more than that, even if they don’t exactly tickle my fancy.
Which is why I can very much respect that a lot of people will love the Prada Cervo Shine Hobo, even though it’s not absolutely wowing me. It has a ton of factors working in its favor – buttery soft deerskin leather, accessible outside pockets, and a functional and wearable shape that would be great for work or play. I think what’s stopping me from being more enthusiastic is the color. I’m not much for tan, and if they gave me this in a grape-y purple or a slate grey, I’d probably be turning cartwheels right now. But for those of you out there that love tan, I may have found your new favorite everyday bag. Buy through Saks for $1650.
While polling shows that many are sick of social networking sites, we are still on them! I’ve always been on Facebook and have loved adding Twitter to the mix. With the addition of group pages and fan pages, we had to add both. Our facebook fan page just opened up and is growing steadily. Make sure you join us on all of our social networking ventures; it is another place to hang out and we will have exclusive giveaways for our Facebook and Twitter members!
Quench your Thirst… in a Fashionable Way!
June 20th, 2009 / Posted in In The News by Shannon Mahoney. It is the weekend, and very rarely do I post over the weekend. However, when I came across this amazing weekend-worthy information, I couldn’t help myself. So, we all have favorite designers, but what if those designers had the opportunity to make their very own signature cocktail… what would it be? Turns out, Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch and Ralph Lauren have all taken time out of their fabulously fashionable schedules to create their signature cocktails.

Marc Jacobs put together a spin on a mint julep and created the Marc Mint Martini. Recently featured Tory Burch combined grapefruit, mango, strawberry and pineapple to make the Tory Tikki Tini. Finally, Ralph Lauren put together crushed rasberries, rum, lemon and lime juice to arrive at the delightful Ralph Rasberry Rum Punch. Not sure which you’d pick? Head to LES bar in NYC and give all three a try (don’t forget cab money). Yet, do you find yourself less than impressed with these pics? If so, tell me, what would you imagine your favorite designer putting together as *their* drink?
Weekend Obsession: Marc by Marc Jacobs Q
June 20th, 2009 / Posted in Marc Jacobs Handbags by Megs Mahoney Dusil. When we first covered the Marc by Marc Jacobs Dr Bag, everyone went crazy bananas over it and we actually had the store sell out in a matter of hours. Since then, Marc Jacobs has expanded this line to included clutches, patent leather, hobos, totes, satchels, you name it, it is there. And this is why our weekend obsession this week is the Marc by Marc Jacobs Q line of handbags. They are versatile, fun, usable, chic, and most important affordable. I don’t think I can even remember the last Marc Jacobs bag that I loved over a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag. And why this is good for all of us? The Marc by Marc line is more affordable. I don’t own a piece from the Q line, but it is truly an ideal line for many reasons. Rock on Marc!

The charming staff at the Sloane Street store made the experience delightful. I am completely obsessed with the extraordinary jewelry boxes (cerise pink!) and especially love the blue gift boxes. Smythson is the British brand typically known for its pocket notebooks embossed with cheeky titles like ‘Yummy Mummy’, ‘Wedding Belle’, ‘Inspirations and Ideas’, ‘Happiness is Shopping’, ‘My London’, and most recently, ‘Recessionista’.
The notebooks and all of the products are made of luxurious full-grain patterned leather and can be personalized with your name, initials or any other phrase you desire. Smythson’s travel accessories are perfect for keeping organized on trips at home or abroad. I pawning over the Marshall travel which has compartments for wallet tickets, passport, boarding pass and currency. The Marshall wallet is shown here in Cerise Aruba calfskin. The high quality of the Marshall wallet makes the price very reasonable for $330.00 as this wallet will last for years. The aqua passport cover sells for $110.00 and has silver blocked pockets titled ‘Boarding Pass’ and ‘Passport’ and the cover can be personalized with up to ten characters. The aqua shade is bright enough that it will be easy to find in your bag as you speed through customs.
Real Housewives of New Jersey: “If you’re not familiar with the table flip, you’re probably not from New Jersey”
June 19th, 2009 / Posted in On Screen by Amanda Mull.As much as I loved Tuesday’s season finale of the Real Housewives of New Jersey, you totally missed out if you stopped there and didn’t watch what Bravo lovingly referred to as the “Last Supper.” It was the “director’s cut” of the now-infamous dinner fiasco, and it featured some extra footage and lots of extra commentary from the housewives, and perhaps more importantly, from their kids. The whole thing left me absolutely giddy and gleeful for no reason that I can think of, but it was a huge mess of fun and surreality that is perhaps unequaled in the annals of trashy reality television. Even by Rock of Love Bus, and if you’ve seen that show, then you know just how god-awful this fight would have to be to top it. Oh, and it was. Since we’ve already done the rundown of the story, let’s talk about what new things we’ve learned from this special in an oh-so-convenient list format.
Yves Saint Laurent Animal Print Muse II
June 19th, 2009 / Posted in Satchels, Yves Saint Laurent Handbags by Amanda Mull.No matter how much it goes in and out of style, my dedication to animal print persists. In the hands of unskillful designers, it can often go sadly awry, but when done correctly, I enjoy it so thoroughly.
And some may disagree, but I think the Yves Saint Lauren Animal Print Muse II is done absolutely right. In order to temper a strong statement like leopard, it’s important to keep a bag’s other lines and features sleek and clean, which is exactly what the folks at Yves Saint Laurent did. The Muse II was a fabulous candidate for the animal print treatment because of both its inherent simplicity of design and also its status as a must-have It Bag. That way, if you don’t like the animal print, there are plenty of other versions available. And if you do, not only is it an It Bag, but it’s one that everyone who sees you will notice immediately. For better or for worse. But I think it’s for better. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $2295.
