For some reason, I periodically forget about the MICHAEL Michael Kors bag line as a whole. Its existence completely leaves my consciousness, and it takes a pretty bag like the MICHAEL Michael Kors Beverly Venus Satchel to remind me that it’s there.

As far as I can tell, the only reason that that happens is because it’s not a standalone line, but rather a small part of a larger whole that includes, among other things, a whole separate collection of bags. Dollar for dollar, though, the purses offered in this diffusion line are some of the best deals to be found on high-end handbags.

Miu Miu Lurex Jeweled Shoulder Bag Miu Miu Lurex Jeweled Shoulder Bag

I have a hard time pinning down the Miu Miu handbag aesthetic. Their bags seem to roam freely between minimalist and intricate, taking a pit stop at every level in between. Since “brand cohesion” is probably only something that obtuse fashion people (like moi) ever think/care about, it doesn’t necessarily seem to be a bad thing – it certainly brings them attention from a wide swath of stylish girls and women.

The Miu Miu Lurex Jeweled Shoulder Bag is the brand at its most intricate extreme. Based on how successful the bag is, maybe they should spend more time at that end of the spectrum.

PurseBlog and Botkier Exclusive Handbag Collaboration purseBlogBotkier

We have been working on this collaboration for months are are happy to finally be bringing you news of it. PurseBlog is teaming up with Botkier to design an exclusive PurseBlog and Botkier handbag. This handbag will be created by all of you, having choices for the silhouette, leather, and hardware. After this initial round of voting, Botkier will mock up a couple of options for the next stage. Once that is completed, Botkier will be making and selling the PurseBlog + Botkier Limited Edition Handbag on their website.

The first stage is voting on the initial categories. Monica Botkier and her team have picked out four styles, leathers, and hardware options for you all to vote on. Some of the styles are not in production right now and the leathers are exclusive for PurseBlog, none have been used before. This will truly be a one of a kind design when it is complete!

L.A.M.B. Signature Worthington Satchel in African Argyle LAMB Signature Worthington Satchel in African Argyle

There was no doubt in my mind when I came across this bag that it was a L.A.M.B. handbag. In fact, I am almost positive that designer, Gwen Stefani would have it no other way. Since I am learning to appreciate the eccentric designs and find something I like about them I can actually say that this is the kind of bag I would carry if I was looking to really make a statement.

I can completely envision the quintessential Rebecca Minkoff girl toting this awesome bag. You know that fabulous photo that comes up on her website of the girl wearing the massive squiggly fur vest? That’s the one- and if I had a fur vest, there’s no doubt in my mind that I’d pair it with this Rebecca Minkoff Lovespell Rocker Bag.

The Lovespell Rocker manages to combine rocker with bohemian in an entirely unique and new way. Allow me to explain. Rebecca Minkoff continues with the rocker trend by incorporating her signature studs, but the addition of a line of leather fringe at the bottom and stitching among the metal makes for an artsy collective. It’s a new direction, to be sure, but it’s innovative and is suitable for twice as many types of personal style.

Foley + Corinna Cargo Bag

By Amanda Mull RSS Feed on Jan 4, 2010. More in Savvy.

If you looked at the picture of the Foley + Corinna Cargo Bag before you started reading this post (which I’m fairly sure you did), then you can probably already guess what I’m going to write about it. Ladies and gentlemen, we have proportion issues!

The issue, though, is that I can’t decide if the bag’s issues are a good thing or a bad thing. Playing with proportion is one of the most important avenues to innovation, and if no one ever innovated, I wouldn’t have a job and handbags wouldn’t be any fun. It’s also one of the riskiest things to do, since a sense of proportion is innate in most people that find any value in aesthetics – violate that, and you might have a serious problem selling bags.

Let's be best friends.
