Posting will be at a low today. Vlad and I had a friend of ours who passed away today, so things will be a little slow around here. All of you make sure you live each day of your life the best you can; tell everyone you love that you love them, and do what makes you happy. Please keep our friend and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Hope you all are well. -Megs & Vlad

Introducing: BagBits

September 14th, 2005 / Posted in BagBits by Vlad Dusil.

I thought of this today while flying from Fort Lauderdale back to Columbus, while zoning out into a sweet mini nap. Weird, I always seem to get the good ideas right before falling sleep. Often times, I don’t remember what brilliant bogus I came up with when I wake up. This idea stuck though. Glad it did.

May I present the BagBits. Short & Sweet, to the point and without any extra weight. Bags à la carte, little calories, randomly shuffled together, a minimalistic approach with yet plenty of flavor that will keep you (hopefully) satisfied. Eye candy galore without the extra drivel. Don’t catch on yet? Don’t worry, BagBits Volume I will give you an introductory taste shortly. It even got its very own category, whee.

The Bottletop Bag

Mulberry Bottletop Bag

Our friend The Bag Lady pointed out a creation worth mentioning. The Bottletop Bag is a remake of the original Mulberry Bottletop Bag from back in ‘02, and features heaps of wires, twisted and intertwined, Coke caps, as well as a wired model of the African continent on its front. The bag has a built-in speaker and a radio receiver (incl. antenna), it seems to be compatible to iPods as well. Best part ~ the Bottlecap charity gives a part of its profits to sexual health projects in Africa that provide sexual and reproductive health education in the part of the world that needs it the most. Thumbs up! Once their online store actually responds to our browser requests, we can provide you with pricing and availability. Great, unique case/bag for a good cause.

Hogan Fisarmonica Handbag

Oh great, the clock’s ticking towards 3 a.m. and Megs and I are still up and working. Splendid, it’s sleepy time soon for sure, but ’til then, there is more bag goodness to be shared for Wednesday. One brand we’ve blatantly neglected in the past is Hogan. Shame on us, they appear to have some really swank creations to offer, one of which caught my eye sight a few hours ago (browsing one of the fave online stores, Italian Forzieri).

Now, I have to share with you all that I absolutely hate, I repeat, hate olives. I never liked them to begin with, but then Megs had me participate in the whole “you do this if you love me” game (which I willingly agreed to…idiot) and forced me to munch 7 olives at once. Needless to say, I nearly threw up, swallowing them was perhaps the nastiest food experience I ever had to go through. I bet none of the shows on TV (the ones that make you eat gross sh*t – like Fear Factor) could dish up anything even remotely as disgusting as those olives. To me, olives are poison!

Nonetheless, I really dig the olive shade on the new Hogan Fisarmonica, a small olive suede and leather handbag. Makes me totally forget about the disgust I usually feel when being reminded of olives. The $615 bag is beautifully sculptured into a very feminine form (yum) with its sides embellished by soft gathered suede. I really need to look more into the whole Hogan thing.

Nuti Ostrich Hobo

Nuti Ostrich Hobo HandbagAny of you ever see the movie The Big Green? I can’t remember when it came out- or how old I was when it did- but I remember loving it! There was just something about the name of their team, and of course the Disney ending, and whoo-hoo they played some soccer! Green has always been one of my fav colors (comes and goes at my top fav with different times in my life) and I just realized I have never owned a green bag. What better way to start than with a green ostrich bag? The Nuti Ostrich Hobo is quite rich in color and material. If any of you have not gotten to feel ostrich, I suggest you put that on your ‘To Do’ list. The hobo bag has a single handle- with what seems to be a super cool and modern looking base of the handle- almost looks like coiled wire (but it’s probably not- ha) There is a hidden magnetic closure, suede lining, and three open and one zipper inside pockets. Adding a little zing still is gonna cost you $2200 via Saks, but sometimes fashion doesn’t come cheap (mainly, most of the time ;-) ).

Rosanna Hope Designs

I’d like you all to take a look at some designs by a totally new designer. Rosanna Hope Designs is a company that was started by my new friend, Rosanna (whom is quite the lovely lady!) She introduced me to her Winter Wonderland designs and I became entranced. Using quite fine products like beautiful Mongolian lamb, felted wool blended with angora, mohair, alpaca and silk, her bags are anything but ordinary. The best part about the Winter Wonderland designs are how they are embellished with lush flowers and beads- not to mention the Mongolian lamb which feels different than anything else!

First, I want to bring your attention to the Pink Mongolian Fluffy. The name says it all with the fluffy look of the design. I’m a girl and I love pink. Many of you probably do too because it is such a beautiful color for many women to wear. This “fluffy” just makes me want to hold it and touch the bag all night long. Made of lush pink Mongolian lamb and embellished with a beautiful suede flower brooch, gives the bag an overall appearance that is hard to find. To me, the bag is between an evening bag and a fun and flirty bag- but could really go both ways. The handle is hand beaded with dyed fresh water pearls, pink jade and pink rose quartz. Ok just read the ‘ingredients’ and tell me this isn’t divine! The look of the bag is entrancing to me. There are quite a few other colors available in the “fluffy” but the pink wins my vote for sure. This cute little bag is going for $275.

If I’ve ever seen a cute combo, it’s the Mother and Daughter Fluffy Set. Now all you fashionista mommas know that your daughters are going to be exposed to great designers at a young age, but why not let them join in on the fun? This little bag for the little princess is a mini Mongolian lamb ‘fluffy’ embellished with a black velvet bow. Best part is the little princess can choose a color that will match her mommies Mongolian Lamb Tote. Seriously, is that not the greatest idea ever?! The Mini Girls Fluffy is $75 and the mommies Felted Wool Tote Embellished with Mongolian Lamb is $240 [link]. Any mommie daughter duo would most definitely be the perfect pair with these matching bags!

Lastly, I want to lure you into the alluring design of the Green Felted Wool Bag. What I love about this is the intensity of the design. The body is not just one color or bland looking at all. On the contrary, the body of this bag is made of felted wool which is then blended with mohair and silk. Not just one color, look closely, there are many. Rather than being over powering, each unique material compliments the other making this bag unique and chic. The bag is topped off with an olive suede band and a bamboo handle, while the body is finished off with a large leather flower brooch. Being one-of-a-kind is well worth the price of $275.

All of the designs above can be seen and purchased via Rosanna Hope Designs, whom by the way, you will be seeing much more of in the near future! :-)

Leonardo Da Vinci Billfold ID Wallet

September 13th, 2005 / Posted in Wallets by Megs Mahoney Dusil.

Leonardo Da Vinci Billfold ID WalletAny brand called Leonaro Da Vinci must be ‘it’ right? Ok, we all know the original Da Vinci as the big guy, the artist, the man of all men. But as I look at this wallet made by that huge name, I realize that the name may be trying to fill shoes way too many sizes too big for it. The Leonardo Da Vinci Men’s Italian Genuine Leather Billfold ID Wallet is a refined shiny leather wallet that seems nothing more than oridnary to me. This wallet shows off a classic billfold with detailed tonal stitching on the frame. The billfold has a flap with four card slots and a change snap pocket on the other side, plus three slit pockets for extras. Now I’m not saying that this wallet isn’t nice, but tagging on a name like the big LDV (Leonardo Da Vinci ;-) ) makes one assume that it may be a bit more spectacular- like a pop-up cut out of the Mona Lisa or something! Nevertheless the wallet is nicely made and comes in at a not too shaby price tag of $49 via Forzieri.

Lindsay Lohan Slummin’

-
September 13th, 2005 / Posted in Celebrity Style by Megs Mahoney Dusil.

From Nicole Richie’s BFF and always done up all cute, to this not-so-handsome dude to the left of her- Lindsay Lohan seems to be slummin’. Never fear, LiLo would not be seen in the spot light with this guy if he were not famous- this dude with the shaggy mess of hair with 2 highlights streaking through it, with the awfully fugly vest over the WTF t-shirt, with the out of style bracelet, is Adam Levine’s brother. Who is Adam Levine you may ask? Well none other than Adam Levine from Maroon 5 (yup, I had to look it up too). But what I really want to focus on, other than LiLo slummin’ hardcore both with her choice of man and her own style for the day, is what bag is she carrying? Name it, because frankly, I’m not sure what brand it is. Can anyone help me out?
