There are certain colors I just can’t get enough of. Gray is one of them. With so many different shades to choose from, gray is a color that can add anything from sophistication to edginess to your outfit. When I first came across the Miu Miu Diamond Leather Bag I didn’t think I saw anything too noteworthy. At first glance, I actually thought I was looking at a clutch. Yet, as I looked a little more, I noticed a few things. First of all, this is a handbag that can be carried as a shoulder bag which comes with an adjustable shoulder strap, or used as an oversized clutch. Then I found myself pleasantly surprised with the textured leather diamond patchwork and bows on each side. Doesn’t the handbag just look so soft? I have to say, I am definitely a huge fan of the external patchwork texture and internal satin lining combination. With many gray winter days approaching, this is definitely the kind of gray I wouldn’t mind holding on to. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $1,295.
This is yet another one of those handbags where I don’t really know where to start. At first glance, the Miu Miu Patch Shoulder Bag has just too much going on. Now, I don’t think it is quite as busy as the Bottega Veneta Woven Boston handbag Megs covered just a couple days ago, but it’s still too much for me. Sure, many fall colors are thrown into this look which means you probably have several outfits you could pair with this purse, but at the same time, the outfits would have to be rather plain. If you tried to pair this handbag with anything but a plain outfit you could come across as one of those shifty people who wears every pattern they own at once. Miu Miu did something similar with the Miu Miu Nappa Patch Leather Bag, but in this situation they kept it simple. So what do you think? Is it better than the Bottega Veneta Bag mentioned earlier or should Miu Miu have stuck with the “less is more” option found with their Nappa Patch Leather Bag? Buy through Net-a-Porter for $1,345.
Miu Miu Shine Colour Bowler Bag
While getting my hair done yesterday (I’m now a brunette once again!), I found myself thumbing through a slightly out-of-date British Vogue, and I learned two things: First, that I like foreign Vogues more than I like American Vogue (please don’t smite me, Anna Wintour! But seriously, check out French and British Vogue. And maybe even Italian, Russian, and Indian), and second, multi-color handbags are supposed to be big for fall and winter. After careful contemplation while my hair color was processing, I’m just not sure this trend is for me. Take the Miu Miu Shine Colour Bowler Bag, for instance. I can see why people would really like it – it’s understated, beautifully finished, and for some reason reminds me of equestrian activities (maybe it’s the color combination?). But it’s just not doing it for me, and neither are most of the bags like it. Perhaps it’s because most of them contain some sort of brown (and my distaste for brown is well-documented), or maybe it’s because matching one color to an outfit is hard enough, but finding an outfit that matches two or more colors is probably too much work for me in the morning. Or maybe it’s something else – I’m not exactly sure. Whatever it might be, though, I’ll leave these bags for girls with a different sense of style. Buy through Saks for $1240.
I figured we could continue the battle of the similar designs from Friday. Why not right? The Fendi Spy Bag became a huge hit, in fact was one of the bags that catapulted the “it” bag obsession, back in 2005. You were only handbag-cool if you had a Fendi Spy Bag. The bag itself is a bit different; a large slouchy oval body, funky handles, a cool hidden compartment, a fun pocket, and a large open body. After it became the next best thing since sliced bread, Fendi went on to reinvent the Spy in a plethora of variations, materials, skins, and looks. Some were awful, some were beautiful, and the Spy is still a recognizable bag.
Then came Miu Miu, known for chic bags that resemble its older sister Prada but have a more stomachache price tag. We have been mad for Miu Miu handbags for quite some time now, loving the chic and fun styles and lines. So Miu Miu decided to take a note from the Bottega Veneta and Fendi book, pairing woven leather on a Spy like shaped bag.
The Miu Miu Woven Leather Tote is actually a favorite of mine for many reasons. The rich berry tones are perfect for fall and the woven leather shows off this soft saturated leather beautifully. The slouchy hobo body resembles the body of the Fendi Spy but does not have the fold over flap top with the cool pouch pocket and hidden lip gloss compartment. Either way, I am loving this bag. And I love the Fendi Spy Bag as its design at one time was new and the bag transforms outfits into chic ensembles pulled together by the handbag.
So what do you think of the Fendi Spy vs the Miu Miu Woven Leather Tote?
There is something entirely sexy about a handbag with volume. I love a bag that pops out, that can stand on its own but also accessorize beautifully. There have been other patchwork bags before, but the Miu Miu Nappa Patch Leather Bag gets it right with the stunning dimensions added from the intricate patchwork detailing. And it is no just the patchwork that I love, it is the color! The rose leather is one of those colors that can flatter almost everyone. Whether you have a deep summer tan or a light complexion, this color stands out and gives a feminine touch to your overall look. And the body leads way to the twisted shoulder strap, again perfect finishing touch on an already feminine and gorgeous handbag. The shape of this bag is perfect for everyday wear and features a zip fastening at the top and purple satin lining. I finally have found another bag that I truly adore! Buy through Net A Porter for $1445.
I spend so much of my time looking at, contemplating and judging handbags, that’s it’s rare that I give a bag a second look once I’ve decided that it’s not for me. I know my own taste, I know how much I’m willing to pay and for what, and I know what I’ll use enough to get my money’s worth. (more…)
Last week I included you on my hunt for a great purple clutch. The hunt is still on as I desperately try to find a great fun purple clutch. No need for a crazy expensive clutch, something fun to take out and play with. Miu Miu handbags have been on a roll for me, churning out cute and affordable bags season after season. They are not all home runs, but some definitely are rounding the bases.
And with my purple clutch obsession, I ran into the Miu Miu Stamped Clutch in purple stamped patent leather with gold hardware. And while this is an overly simple clutch, I do wonder what the croc stamping looks like in person. I am all for bag deals, but if this bag looks cheap in person I will not splurge, even with such a price friendly tag. The thing is, croc stamping can look overly forced, making a bag ultimately look cheap. If I saw this bag in person and liked it, it would be a purple clutch contender. The major perk is the patent leather can be cleaned up easily! Buy through Net A Porter for $275.
The Miu Miu Coffer has become one of the most well-known staples of the Miu Miu Brand. In fact, in the recent years the Coffer is to Miu Miu as the Gauffre is the Prada. There is a special touch to the Coffer that makes it so desirable. It has the added bonus of a detachable crossbody strap which provides ease of use, which we all love. The compilation of the perfectly gathered leather, smooth top flap, and deep blue color makes the Miu Miu Matellase Luxe Convertible Bag warm my heart. My love for this bag has lasted for quite some time, and I truly do not know why I do not take the plunge. Of all color options, the blue rich leather is stunning. The outside has two snap pockets and the inside is lined with satin and has a pocket. Buy through Saks for $1,445.
Upon first glance this bag looks awkward. It is a different look with a different appeal. When this Miu Miu bag first popped up on Net A Porter I was confused by both the purse and my feelings towards the purse. But then it sold out (in a teal hue) before I had time to really sit and think it over. Now the Miu Miu Framed Fold Over Clutch is back in a peonia soft nappa leather with a gold tone frame. While you hold this clutch by the leather top, you must place it with the gold clasp facing up to open it. The color is perfect for what this season craves; bold colors and accessories. Yet the set up of the clutch is different from the norm and I am not sure I can love it fully. It almost looks as a clam on its side, asking for you to open it up. And when you do, the bag expands like a bag of tricks. Either way I can not deem this drab, because a part of me likes it. It is just that the other part of me is confused by it. What do you think about this Miu Miu handbag? Buy this runway look through Net A Porter for $720.
Earlier today I asked for a little help identifying the handbag Gerri Halliwell was seen sporting. It took you all no time to figure it out, pointing me in the direction of Miu Miu! A special thanks to Kath for being the first to send us the link. The bag of choice of Ginger Spice was the Miu Miu Nappa Frame Tote which features a frame top with golden hardware and black Nappa leather. This is a very clean and sophisticated look from Miu Miu, which is easy to see why Geri paired it with her refined white coat. This handbag can polish off an outfit easily. There is a detachable crossbody strap, but wearing this as a messenger bag will take away the elegant touch. Dimensions are 13″W X 12″H X 5″D. Buy through Saks for $1,595.
I have a strong feeling that I am going to nab some heat for liking this bag. But you know what, I just can not help it, I love this bag! I popped into Saks a few days ago and an array of new Miu Miu bags were on display. I glanced over many of them, stopping at this interesting number. The Miu Miu Woven Leather Hobo is reminiscent of its love-or-hate sister the Prada Fringe Bag. The Prada Fringe Bag was in the spotlight as an eyesore to many, but it had this odd little quality that grew on me. And now this Miu Miu bag has me looking and liking too. The brown woven leather is actually quite soft to the touch, guaranteed to become more supple with age. I know, I know, Bottega Veneta is the woven leather genius, but this is not too shabby. And the fringe is only trimmed along the bag. I tried it on and it had a hippie-chic appeal with a touch of Western. There is a handle across the top and the option of a detachable shoulder strap. For all of you who hate it, join Vlad in the dislike of this bag. I may be a lone ranger, but I am enjoying myself while enjoying this bag. Available through Net A Porter for $1595. (more…)
The subtle rose hue on this handbag makes it drop-dead gorgeous. Adding a pastel accessory to your wardrobe offers the perfect hint of color which adds the perfect feminine touch to a daytime outfit. The Miu Miu Washed Leather Tote adds a touch of rose coloring which is accented with gold hardware. There is a zip fastening across the top and the shape curves at the top. Dimensions of this bag are large, which makes it a perfect work bag option. Because the leather is so light in color, you will have to be careful of getting it dirty (the feet on the base help keep the bottom clean). I would have loved this bag even more if the inside were lined in suede, but the black cotton lining still gets the job done. This is a very ladylike Miu Miu bag, and in no way alludes to this line being a young and less-refined sister to Prada.
