Just this weekend, I was sitting at home, going through some mail from earlier in the week and came across the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book. As I flipped through the pages, I couldn’t help but ask myself how certain designers are selected for a holiday book like this. I mean, clearly, there is no way each line available at the store can be featured, so, how is one designer chosen over the next? When I looked at the handbags, they all had one thing in common, they are gorgeous. Sure, some I could pull off better than others, but that’s always the case. Either way, whoever selected the handbags, did a stellar job. Yes, I found that most of the handbags featured were high end designers like Salvatore Ferragamo, Chanel, Prada and Valentino. But then I flipped over the next few pages and saw some of our Savvy brands like Cole Hann and Kooba. Help me out here, as a designer, how would do you think you could be chosen to grace the pages of something like the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book?

Many days I forget what we ladies must do to impress men. It is a vicious circle that takes hours of prep and in the hot and humid summer my attempts usually just fail. My hair is disheveled, I begin to sweat, my skirt sticks to my legs, my heels kill my feet, but I am sure trying to make an impression for my man and in general. There are certain accessories we can wear that simply make any man turn his head and many women be quite envious and stare too. I have found the perfect pair of boots to get the job done The Manolo Blahnik Over-The-Knee Suede Boots are eye-catching sexy and sultry black suede boots. Can you imagine pairing these with little white shorts, a tight tank, and a hot necklace? The men would flock to you. These boots feature diamond cutouts on the cuff, zip up the back, and sport a 4 1/5″ heel. Ok so these boots would make me taller than Vlad, but they are sexy nonetheless. Tell us what you think- sexy or trashy. I’d love to go try these on babies on- I’m sure Vlad would appreciate it. Available exclusively via Neiman Marcus online for $1450.

After a hectic but amazing trip to NYC, I am back and ready to talk about… pets! It seems that we all love our animals so much. Nitro, my beloved Lab, has been getting quite the spotlight on the main page of the site lately. He is experiencing his 15 minutes of fame and enjoying it very much Since I am sick and feeling my animal loving side coming out today we have some exciting things for you all. First, some bags and accessories for your amazing animal. But the best part is we do have a contest that involves fashion and your animal coming up later today. Vlad will be posting what it is all about. Sit patiently and let the games begin!

To kick off today, how about a completely unnecessary designer water bowl. Ah, yes! The Goyard Pet Travelling Bowl is exactly what any posh pet needs on the family vacation. Goyard decided that your pet needs to travel and continue to experience an extravagant lifestyle, so there is a foldable easy to carry bowl. The bowl features the Goyard signature print on the outside and two metal bowls on the inside. Inquire more for your pet’s posh traveling through Goyard.

Roughly three weeks ago, when I left Megs in Columbus to what I like to call the lonely bitterness of a masters degree at the other end of the world, I had my layover in Charlotte, NC. For the past year and a half, since Megs and I started the whole long distance thing, I must have travelled through Charlotte a good 15 times. That particular airport became my favorite layover because US Airways, my airline of choice, flies Airbus 330s for the long 9 1/2 hour trip, which have individual TV units with remotes for each seat. Score! Also, because Megs and I are still going strong, despite the ridiculous distance, CLT has become a symbol of something wonderful and I like it. Ok, enough of the sentimental shnazz.

As I walked from one terminal to the other, I noticed a screamingly bright pink booth that caught my attention. Being the resident bag blogger, a pink bag attracted my attention. More specifically, it was the Little Pink Tool Kit, a 10 piece tool set in pink, nicely organized in a pink carry case. From what I read, a portion of each sale are donated to breast cancer organizations. Not sure how much of the $80 tool bag actually go towards a good cause, including that information would be probably helpful. I should have mentioned this bag for weeks now, as the brochure had been sitting on my desk, but I guess I was just too lazy. The Little Pink Tool Kit is available through their website.

Sunday is one of my favorite days of the week. For some reason, Sunday feels about 182 times lazier than Saturday. It always has to me. It is more of a lazy unproductive day for me than any other. Typically I don’t get out of my PJ’s until about 2 pm (that is if I do ). So while I understand wanting to wear comfortable clothes, I also find some ‘comfortable’ clothes unappealing. Having nothing to do with bags at all, I’d like to introduce you to a pair of pants that I don’t quite understand. I stumbled upon the Marc Jacobs Collection Cropped Flare Pants and immediately became perplexed. Usually the models on the sites/in the magazines can pull off the craziness of clothes, but I don’t think these pants look flattering at all. Yet, these pants are a distinctly look straight from the Spring 2006 runway show, which means I may be way out of style this spring since I don’t like these pants. Made from 100% cotton, the cropped flare pant ’sits low on the hips and then flares out with brio to create a voluminous leg that stops just short of the ankle- pair with a more fitted top for striking style’. If you were to wear these pants and did not pair them with a fitted top, it would look even more wrong in my opinion. The pants also have two pleats on each side, side trouser pockets, a back flap pocket on the left, and a back besom pocket on the right. I’m quite tall and I can imagine myself looking like an oompa-loopma in these. To me, it would take an extraordinary person to pull these pants off. Am I wrong? Buy these cotton pants for a hefty $875 via eLuxury.

I don’t think anyone will be trying to sack your bag from between your legs anytime soon. Although I see it being not thought out into the last detail, because especially ladies of shorter stature will be more likely to fold their legs behind and under the chair, rubbing against their bag.

More on the DAC project in a little.

Any of you thinking of remodeling your house? If you are I am sure you have to go through the never-ending process of choosing paint color, wallpaper design, cabinets, fixture selections, etc, etc. So when you are looking for that perfect wallpaper to add to let’s say your family room or your bedroom, would you ever consider this Gucci Wallpaper? I mean seriously… would you?

This unsightly Gucci Wallpaper I came across is designed with the small GG print in a beige pearlized color. If you would honestly consider it I will go on with the specs: it’s made of cellulose and vinyl with a polyurethane resin finish. There is 1 roll per pack (72 sq. ft., 28 inches wide) and the height of each GG is 0.7 inches. Gucci says that this wallpaper is not recommended for humid areas. Hum wonder why this expensive unpractical paper would not be able to go in any room of the house? So I suppose this leaves out your bathrooms. This wallpaper sells for $85 a roll on Gucci.

Personally I’d love to hear your opinions on this matter: I don’t even always like prints on bags let alone hanging all over my house. Would you use this to show people, ‘hey, I really can afford Gucci and I’ll even slab it on my walls to show you I have made it in this world!’ Yikes, I think not.

Yesterday after a day trip to Cologne (in the northeast part of Germany), I realized that I have been leaving out a huge part of our population: the kids! Shame on me. This was never intentional, trust me! I saw so many little munchkins running around yesterday and I decided they needed to have their own handbag category! I know many of you remember or have children now that make you remember that little kids love to have bags. I always needed to have some sort of little compartment to hold all of my ‘things’. I have told you all once before that I am an avid collector of ‘things’, but that did not come with age. That started wayyy back when. I had little purses, pouches, backpacks, Barbie travel cases, wallets, etc. You name it, I had it. I carried the dumbest things around. If I could have had it my way all the time, I would have left the house carrying My Buddy in one arm, Kid Sister in the other, and playing Skip-It while I walked. Let’s all do a way back when recall: Silly Putty (in the egg shell), Polly Pocket, sticky-hands from the 25 cent machine, California Raisins, travel size Etch-A-Sketch, Barbie dolls, Gak, miniature Pound-Puppies, My Little Pony, My Littlest Pet Shop, Gumby, Linkin Logs, Snap Bracelets, fuzzy stickers, and much more (not to mention my Easy Bake Oven at home! Oh yea, I was a chef in the making). But a kid has to have somewhere to carry all of this stuff right? I traveled with all of my goods just like my mommy carried her purse with her goods. Just as important as it is for all of us grown-up fashionistas to carry a purse, it is just as important for kids to feel like they can relate and carry their special things around too.

This is why I am in love with this Children’s Animal Backpacks & Pouches. The adorable matching set choices are cat, monkey, butterfly, or frog. Knowing how I was, I would have picked the money for sure. The backpacks measure 8 1/2-12 1/2″H x 10 1/2″-12″W while the matching pouches that coordinate with the backpacks are 4 1/4″-5 1/2″H x 4 1/2″-5″W. The set is made of cotton and polyester which makes the bags easy for washing. This is a major perk for anyone caring for a kid! Kids are messy! With the assortment of animals kids have a choice to be individual and pick the animal that they relate with/like the most. The adorable backpack is $48 and the matching pouch is only $18 through Neiman Marcus.

*The way I see it, buying any kid a bag like this would be a hit! You’d be the best grown-up on the block *

I do not know what we would do without sales!!! And a sale from Gucci nonetheless. Here is the clincher. It’s for a totally off the wall product. Think hard about what you would associate Gucci with. I will give you 5 seconds… 5…. 4…. 3…. 2…. 1. Now tell me if what you thought of was the Gucci Log Carrier. If you answered no, you are totally normal like the rest of us. If you actually said, “Why yes Megs! That is exactly what I was thinking of!” well then you are really way too cool for me. I’m just really wondering who would want to carry hunks of dirty wood in a log carrier made by Gucci. What astonishes me even more is the mental picture of people carrying wood, dirty insect-filled wood, to their fireplaces in a Gucci log carrier. But like I always say — whatever floats your boat. If you have the money and Gucci is your style, then why not? The log carrier is 33.5 x 21.5 inches so it can fit most of your log needs (haha… still laughing). The outside is made of brown/black laser GG logo with black leather trim and suede interior. Ok, wow. Who needs to let their logs touch suede?? Well if I have not sold you on this ‘bag’ yet, here comes the clincher. Marked down from $1350 the suede wood carrier is now only $539 at Gucci.

I love my makeup. I do not use it hardly ever, but I love it. Whenever I go to the mall I always head into Sephora or Nieman Marcus to buy makeup, which I do not need or use. Prices on makeup are ridiculous. Funny how I can say makeup prices are ridiculous when I am telling you day after day about multiple exorbitantly pricey handbags. But here is where I’m stuck in a sticky situation. When I love both makeup and bags, am I willing to spend $325 on a makeup bag? Actually I have a greater question, do I even have over $300 to spend on another bag?

Answer: not really. But will I consider it? Of course I will. That’s a bad personality trait, trust me. The Marc Jacobs Collection Soft Calf Cosmetics Pouch is just one of those beautifully simple bags that I can’t pass up. It is simple, small, divine, and the perfect unnecessary accessory. When I look at this bag I swear I can feel the craftsmanship of the smooth calf leather. Another simply beautiful addition is the signature press-lock, which adds some flirty fun. Now I have to rave to you about the color. The aquamarine is so gorgeous I can’t get over it. It is just one of those elegant blue colors that makes you smile. The bag is lined in a colorful suede and is the perfect size, 7.5″ x 4″ x 2″, to be carried around in your large oversized tote. If you are one of the lucky few to be able to afford this makeup pouch and con promise me you won’t let it get as dirty as you do your other ones, then hop over to eLuxury and buy it for $325.

Close the shutters, secure the doors, bring the children inside and the dogs, too… because the elephants are out and the jungle is going nuts! Hah… you have to understand that I have a thing for elephants. I am not sure where it came from, but years ago I think my dad talked about how he wanted to be reborn as an elephant in the next life, and since then our collection of wooden, stone, toy, and fluffy elephants just grew to a point that we count 4o-some different elephants in our home, from every possible corner of the Earth imaginable. Hence, I was very excited when Megs emailed me these bags with the email’s subject saying “especially with you in mind“.

Kickin’ off the working week, we’re doing it big, and in style! The RG House of Florence Elephant Collection is in the house and they made sure to bring the whole family. Ok ok, parts of the relatives had to stay at home, but the finer selection found its way to our precious blog.

Starting to our top-left we have the Elephant Collection Shopping Bag, a generously large shopping tote with a funny edge. It is made from beige canvas with finishings in brown boar leather. This bag has a large internal section with a zippered pocket. The elephant sign is cleverly intergrated into the handle, which makes it both unique and adorable to look at. There is also a detachable strap. The Italian shopping bag goes for $589 through Forzieri.

The next relative is the shopping bag’s brother, the Suede Big Shopping Bag. Big name for a big bag. This full suede shopping bag is a whole 13 inches wider than the aforementioned bag, measuring in at 41 inches in width. Other than that, the specs are the same, it will find a new owner for 658 dollar American through Forzieri.

Bottom right, we have the universal Beige Elephant Collection Backpack. Absolutely gorgeous! The elephant trunk makes the handles for the closure of the bag… simply irresistible. The italian back-o-phant goes for 491 bucks, again via Forzieri.

Last, but certainly not least, the smallest member of the family, the Brown Elephant Collection Cosmetic Case. This way, even your daily toiletries will travel in style with you, and also will draw surprised looks once you pull out the trunk! Guaranteed! Available for $259.00.

As summer slowly approaches, it is time for pool parties, dinner parties, yacht rides, etc. I know I have always been a wine giver, hey, it’s simple, but the presentation is always lacking. Some of these dinner parties are more like royal parties, and although the
wine I give is very nice, I always feel like something is missing. I have figured it out. It’s the way I give the wine, so boring and dull.
Gucci has the perfect solution. For this summer Gucci is featuring a two-bottle wine/champagne carrier with an inside pocket which can hold an opener and your card. The carrier features their famous natural canvas exterior with beige/ebony GG plus interior, dark brown leather trim, and green/red/green signature web on the outside and handles. Each compartment is about 4.3 x 11.3 x 7.8 inches. This is where my father would chime in how impractical a purchase like this would be, but for special occasions — why not? For $290 at Gucci’s site, the carrier is available to accentuate your bottled gift.

Ahh how I love Coach. I do realize that this is the Purse Blog but why not hit the road less traveled every once in a while and feature something totally different and out of the ordinary. Let me place a few thoughts into your head. Spring, flowers, green grass, puppies, butterflies, sunshine, and that one special day that is coming up in your life where you want your significant other to plan the perfect picnic for you. Whether its on the beach, in a park, by the mountains, what better way to set a mood than with a picnic. Now women, you really need to slyly pass this post along to your men to teach that what is is we crave and love…. sigh. Anyhow, back on track. Like I said, picnics are romantic and desired by most if not all women.

Coach to the rescue. They’ve come out with their spanking new Coach Straw Picnic Basket. With their neverending innovative ideas, Coach has designed the ultimate picnic basket. It’s jam packed with goodies like luxurious bamboo-handled flatware, fine white and Scribble patterned china, Coach leather napkin rings, tumbler glasses, coffee cups and Scribble design saucers, and even a wine opener. Wow! What a huge basket(2 (L) x 16 1/2 (W) x 10 (H)) filled with only the best! Here is where we run into a slight problem. It of course, like all other luxury goods, is going to cost ya’ some bling. $1,998 to be exact.

And again, we are all back to day dreaming about that perfect picnic with that perfect man with that perfect day with that perfect new Basket.

We do apologize sincerely, but there is a very good reason things have been slow this week here at the purse blog. After 2 months of separation, the resident love birds Megs and Vladi have finally been reunited in the central European country of Germany. Yay! Weather’s nothing to be excited about, but emotions certainly are on the high side — things are just fabulous. Aside from all the time spent together, we also felt highly compelled to pursue our passion in fashion and do some shopping slash browsing through Europe’s major cities to check out the latest trends and goodies in the handbag market. First stop on the journey: Cologne, Germany.

Aside from its monstrous, intimidating and impressive, almost 760 year-old Koelner Dom (left) and the beautiful Rhein River, there also appeared to be quite enticing shopping opportunities, potent enough to pull a whole lotta moolah out of foreign (and local) pockets. Getting off the ICE, we immediately found ourselves in the very center of town, right by the gorgeous Dom. After a quick detour into its chilly, ginormous nave, we headed right for two of our favorite, exorbitantly pricey Parisian Haute Couture fashion shops: Hermes and Louis Vuitton. Despite having forgotten to shoot pictures of evidence, you can believe us that those two stores are placed within one store of each other (separated by a Chopard store), conveniently located right on the plaza facing the Dom. This venue does ensure exposure to heaps of international visitors, either dropping by to get presents for the loved ones at home, or willing to indulge themselves with high-class goodies.

We first strolled into the LV store. What had already captured our attention from the store front was Louis Vuitton’s seemingly different Monogram Cerises line of bags. The colorful cherries exemplify a fresh and intriguing homage to Louis’ traditional signature monogram canvas — right in time for the fruity and fun spring. While the two of us don’t seem to agree on much at times, we both found the Louis Vuitton Sac Plat completely over-the-top — it seemed to lose LV’s sophistication in the cherry tree. However, Megs immediately fell in love with the $355 Louis Vuitton Pochette Accessoires for two reasons: first off, rather than taking away from the classic monogram that everyone seeks, the cherry only added a zing to make the pochette unique, and secondly the cherry came just in time to add a spring fling to an unwavering Louis Vuitton simple-style. Other than this new Monogram Cerises line, the store seemed a little small and showed a large focus on travel gear, like the Annette travel bag we previously featured. You think you are paying a lot for Louis bags in the US? Thanks to the lousy exchange rate, buying a bag in the US is a bargain, considering that you’d pay 25-35% more in Germany.

Saving the best for last, we then set foot into none other than the creme-de-la-creme Hermes store. Although my girl was dying to buy a bag, she couldn’t — for obvious reasons. What is remarkable about this store was the overall feeling of the sophisticated and high-class ambiance. Within the two floors, we did check out the vast variety of one-of-a-kind couture clothing and accessories, ranging from ashtrays to jewlery and beach towels. For a mere $450 you can get the towel wet, sandy, drained in sun screen and splattered with seagull droppings.

Just like Samantha on the infamous Hermes Birkin Bag search episode on Sex And The City, my girl immediately scoped out the hardware to see first hand the bag that even people who are rich and famous are only privy to purchase. To our disappointment, the Birkin Bag really is that rare and you really do have to be put on a waiting list if you’re approved to buy one. We still fell in love with the Hermes Kelly Bag, that went for a modest EUR 14,000 — gasp. Like Samantha, we felt empty without the Birkin Bag, but Hermes still managed to impress us and prove that they are in a league of their own.

On a side note, we did run into a local aution house, that happened to sell 100% authentically fake Gucci bags for a mere 15 Euros a pop, leaving us extremely tempted to buy all five of ‘em. Just kidding.

Overall we had much fun doing what we do best — tracking down the handbags that leave every shoulder unempty, every wallet a little lighter and every girl happy. Stay tuned for next week’s report from Paris, the fashion capitol of the World.

When it comes time for that one perfect shot, what better way to start it off than with the prized ball nicely resting in an Italian leather case on ur back belt?

The holder is italian-made of fine, dark brown leather and goes over the counter for 65 bucks.
