I have said it at least 100 times in 100 different entries, the whole over-zealous monogram pattern does not do it for me. I want the beauty of the bag to attract the attention, not the logofied style. Even worse is designers who do not typically use a monogram pattern, or have not found success with one, using it like it is hip. Gag me. Upon first glance of the Michael Kors Jet Set Monogram Satchel, I thought of two things: ‘mmmmmkayyyyy’ by Mr. Mackey and Mary Kate Olsen. Those are two things you do not want a potential buyer to think of when looking at a Michael Kors bag. The shape is great, the leather trim is stunning, the push lock closure is cute, but the monogram-embossing makes me seriously laugh and want to gag all at once. Kors, stick to what you know works, simple bags without your initials splattered all over it. Especially when your initials will make people think of at least two totally opposite things. I mean really, who thinks of Michael Kors when they first see the initials MK? Not me. And that is not a good sign. Via eLuxury for $328.
Michael Kors is biting and witty on Project Runway and practical and funky in his designs. The Michael Kors Venus Shopper offers three supple and creamy colors (chocolate, black, or luggage (shown)) and all the amenities needed for this handbag. The additions that separate this bag from the rest are the braided top handles with rings, tabbed corners, and a drawstring closure that features Michael Kors charms. Kors himself may be a tough judge, but for this bag I don’t feel the need to judge his sense of style. For the typical person, it flows amazingly. Dimensions of this bag are 10″H x 12 1/2″W x 6″D.

During grade school and high school I really had no choice but to be preppy. Private school does that to you. But now that I can dress the way I choose, I do find myself still sporting the preppy look from time to time. For some reason, I have a place in my fashionable heart for argyle. Those diamonds just get me going ;) The Michael Kors College Knit Bag shows off a camel, brown and white argyle knit which is offset by tan leather trim and golden hardware. The simplicity of this bag is perfect for a classy lady trying to give herself a bit of a preppy look. Topping off the bag is a shoulder strap with chain-link insets and a frame top with a push-lock closure. This cute little preppy bag measures 6 1/2″H x 13″W x 2″D and is ready to be pre-ordered via Bergdorf Goodman for $450.
When I think of Michael Kors, exotic materials do not seem to come to mind. Not necessarily a bad thing, just not an association. But today I have been hit by the Michael Kors beauty truck. There is something about this bag that just looks so supple, rich, and creamy that I can not ignore it. The Michael Kors Ostrich Drawstring Satchel is bold and beautifully with its peanut ostrich body and perfectly accenting brown leather trim. The two shades of brown remind me of some creamy dessert and since I have such a sweet tooth, it makes me smile. The top handles show off detailed stitching along with the rest of the bags contrast stitching. I am not always a fan of drawstring tops, but this top with beaded ties brings the bags goodness together in a way I can’t describe. The hardware and studs are golden which compliment the other colors and materials. On the front, there are two flap pockets with extended tabs. I can’t figure it all out, but there is something so alluring about this bag for me that I just keep looking at it and wishing it was mine. If you love me you will put yourself on the pre-order list and buy this beauty via Bergdorf goodman for $3,000. And, I will accept charity today and happily take this bag if you buy it for me :-)
Let’s hop into this President’s Day with a little American spirit (here is where all of you who are politically correct may cringe a bit…) Nevertheless, a camouflage bag has a bit to do with President’s Day, don’t ya think?? Yea, just humor me… I have been really sick and all these meds can not be good for coherent sentences and thought processes. Starting off this holiday Monday is the Michael Kors Camo Desert Shoulder Bag. The bag is functional the style is funky. Along with the camo print, there is dark brown leather trim with tonal topstitching which is set off by golden hardware. For a little more storage, which I find I always need, there are two front buckle-flap pockets. The shoulder strap has ample room for you to adjust it to fit it loosely under your arm with golden clasps. Finishing off this bag is a drawstring top with studded leather loops, which ensures that your goodies will not fall out unless they are very very small. If you are into camo and into President’s Day, pre-order this bag via Bergdorf Goodman for $795.
First of all, I hope everyone stayed warm over the weekend. I know many parts of the US got pounded with snow and bitter cold temps. Because of that, I choose to lie around and only venture out for some Starbucks and shopping. While shopping I saw a huge display of Michael Kors shoes and then realized there were some handbags too. For the most part I associate Michael Kors with footwear, but there are some bags that can not be passed up. The Michael Kors Santorini Tote manifests itself in a chunky appearance but an overall simplistic color scheme and vibe. Because the weave is in, Kors decided to implement brown woven calfskin along with golden hardware for this tote. While the bag may be a bit much for some, the details are evident while not being far too overpowering. It all depends what side of the spectrum you are on. The handles are woven along with golden hardware rings and the bag is an open top. While I am not immediately drawn or not drawn to this bag (which measures 9 1/2″H x 15″W x 4″D), I figured it was a bag not to be passed up. Buy it via Neiman Marcus for $795.

P.S. To those who follow our blog religiously, I’m sure you’ve noticed that there’s a new category! The Bag Deals cover affordable bags and deals on chic bags that deserve being mentioned and shared. I know we tend to cover bags of the expensive spectrum most of the time, this new category should bring some balance into things. ;)
I’m not sure if I could have said this better myself… Sadaf said, “In these times it is humbling to see celebrities like Heidi Klum carrying a under $300 bag from Michael by Michael Kors (okay, barely under $300 but at least you don’t need to be on a waiting list to get the bag). She had the color “leather luggage” and was using it as a combo diaper bag. Cute bag don’t you think?” I do love when bags are being carried because they are beautiful and versatile and not just because a celeb is carrying them. I think many of you will agree with this. The Michael Kors “Astor” Large Satchel is a beautiful bag fit for a star (with the not too shabby price tag). If you like to carry lots of your necessities (or not-so-necessities), this large satchel can help you tote your needs around town. Made of soft leather with beautifully seamed detail and nickel stud detail, Michael Kors brought in beauty with functionality. Some other features include a top two-way zip closure, and inside pockets; including inside zip, pouch and cell phone pockets. The dimensions are 14″ W x 10″ H x 5″ D, which makes this bag a pretty nice size. If any of you love this handbag just like Sadaf, head over to Macy*s and nab it for $298.
This lady you don’t see much of other than on 11 pm re-runs of Will and Grace– it is the lovely Debra Messing! Now I am a huge fan of the show- just love it. I love Jack and Will quite a bit more than Grace. I think Karen’s voice could drive anyone insane but she makes up for it in humor. Just love it. Grace, Debra Messing, was recently at Michael Kors with Michael himself showing off quite the beautiful clutch. I love it! I’m a sucker for big clutches and this one is quite a beauty. Debra is embracing the photographer but Michael seems to be staring off into space. Earth to Michael- the camera is over here!
Oh yea- if you can’t tell by the enormously obscuring atrocious watermark- this picture sure was taken by the UK Press. I can’t find this clutch on their site, but feel free to browse others there!
About a month ago we reported about the Michael Michael Kors Large Satchel, and Kate Bosworth recently proved the significance of the luxe handbag among Hollywood celebs. Cute bag, but somehow Kate seems to be missing out on what millions of other Americans are passionately devoted to (aside from handbags, of course)… food. Maybe a few more calories a day would make her and her cute bag harmonize a little more, instead of looking like an underfed, disease-ridden anorexic.
Ouch, did I just say that?
This studded, large satchel from MICHAEL Michael Kors is luxe on a relatively smaller budget (sub $300). The styling could spring right from daddy’s Softtail, the bag is undoubtedly bike-oriented. The satchel is held in ultra-soft calfskin leather, silvertone studs and springy colors catch the beholder’s eye. At a price of just under $300, it’s certainly a good catch for a top-notch designer handbag.
