I have to say, I tend to have a love/hate relationship with patent leather. Perhaps it all stems from my childhood since I vividly remember wearing a pair of patent leather “fancy” shoes for Christmas one year. The gold metal logo-engraved handle makes the clutch pop. The gold on black combination is fun, classy, and sophisticated all rolled into one. The magnetic closures ensure even the clumsiest of us *shouldn’t* lose anything while grabbing dinner, partying in a club or just simply walking around town. As I tend to have clumsy moments, the interior zipped pocked reassures me that as I drop my keys, credit cards, and ID into the pocket, they won’t fall out. Of course there are some of you out there who lack the clumsy gene, but I for one, need to ensure the clutch I sport has a way to at least make me believe my stuff won’t tumble out due to a lack of a zipper, clasp, etc. Yet, the thing I love the most about the clutch is its usability; whether you are sporting a trendy or casual outfit, the clutch is sure to be a great match. Lately Victoria Beckham has been a walking Hermes and Marc Jacobs ad. Anywhere we spot her she is pairing her Hermes Handbag with a Marc Jacobs Dress (typically with Louboutins). It is refreshing to see Victoria step out with a different designer handbag. On Easter Sunday, Victoria Beckham and kids met up with Kate Beckinsdale and her family. As they perused the exhibits at the Getty Center Museum in Los Angeles, only one thing caught my eye, Victoria’s stunning python bag. And no, it was not Hermes! Victoria Beckham was carrying around a gift from Michael Kors, the Michael Kors Rehearsal Satchel in Coffee python, and wearing a Michael Kors dress. We have confirmed that this bag was a personal gift from Michael Kors to Victoria Beckham. Seems the two meet at the Project Runway Finale and hit it off. This handbag was the envy of every attendee at the Project Runway Finale, and Kors choose Beckham as the lucky one. While Victoria’s exact bag does not seem to be available online, there is a black python version available through Michael Kors for $2495. Michael Kors Watchband Clutch

After I brought you the Michael Kors Beverly Gator Watch Clutch, the response was actually quite negative. Here is the thing; I was torn. Did I love the bag or hate it? As I was trying to decide, it literally showed up in front of me and grabbed my attention. Vlad and I were attending a Fundraiser a few weeks ago and a friend of the family showed me her clutch. I looked down as she asked, ‘Do you know who makes this?’. “Michael Kors” I said with a grin. I smiled because I had only written about the clutch a week prior and then it was there looking at me. The Michael Kors Watchband Clutch is much more stunning in person that it appears in photos. I realize the golden watchband has been a turn off for many of you, but truly, in person, it finishes off the look amazingly. The white calf leather works perfectly with the gold metal hardware. Dimensions are 10.75″x 5.25″x 1.5″. Many of you may still not be fond, but I say give this handbag another shot! Buy through eLuxury for $695.

Michael Kors Beverly Gator Watch Clutch

Michael Kors is known by many fashionable people, but has never been an authority in the handbag world. His bags have been basic and have lacked ingenuity at times, but he has designed an attention grabber for spring! The Michael Kors Beverly Gator Watch Clutch features lime alligator with a gold-tone watchband detail. This is the perfect slide on for your hand, which will keep your clutch in place all night. This is a very similar idea to the Prada Fall 2007 handbag line, which featured hand muffs for many of the clutches. There is a front flap and a magnetic snap closure. Dimensions are 5″H x 10 3/4″W x 1″D which makes this the perfect evening wear clutch. My problem is the price. I understand that Michael Kors is an established designer, and alligator is not cheap, but for the dimensions, is a nearly $4k price tag justifiable? I think not. Overall the bag is cute, it is an attention grabber, but I am not sure that many in the handbag world will be going out of their way to buy it. Pre-order for $3,900 at Neiman Marcus.

Michael Kors is able to offer us a designer handbag for a more friendly price tag. Not quite under the $1000 mark, the Michael Kors Chain Shoulder Bag sports cream leather accented with gold hardware. Some days I begin to question these handbags that I love, watching the price tags sky rocket. Is the price really worth it? Are we getting what we pay for? Even with this handbag, sure, it is cute and perfect for that light colored bag. But the tag is still hefty, considering all of the other expenses in life. The chain detailing along with the long zipper pulls are cute. I suppose what I am saying is that I like this bag, but I would not buy it. At Net A Porter for $1095.

As handbag prices skyrocket, every designer is squeezing in their holy grail handbag. Michael Kors implements his classic, chic, and luxurious style in the yellow crocodile Michael Kors Sutton Large Bag. This hand held bag makes a statement with the creamy yellow crocodile and the front flap with extended tab with a gold-tone logo-embossed buckle. The top handles sport ring detailing. Of course this bag is a complete statement bag, capable of catching the attention of every on looker. At the same time this bag costs the same as a down payment on a luxury car. If you had $13,000 to spend, would it be on this handbag? Pre-order via Neiman Marcus for $13,000.

I have said it at least 100 times in 100 different entries, the whole over-zealous monogram pattern does not do it for me. I want the beauty of the bag to attract the attention, not the logofied style. Even worse is designers who do not typically use a monogram pattern, or have not found success with one, using it like it is hip. Gag me. Upon first glance of the Michael Kors Jet Set Monogram Satchel, I thought of two things: ‘mmmmmkayyyyy’ by Mr. Mackey and Mary Kate Olsen. Those are two things you do not want a potential buyer to think of when looking at a Michael Kors bag. The shape is great, the leather trim is stunning, the push lock closure is cute, but the monogram-embossing makes me seriously laugh and want to gag all at once. Kors, stick to what you know works, simple bags without your initials splattered all over it. Especially when your initials will make people think of at least two totally opposite things. I mean really, who thinks of Michael Kors when they first see the initials MK? Not me. And that is not a good sign. Via eLuxury for $328.

Michael Kors is biting and witty on Project Runway and practical and funky in his designs. The Michael Kors Venus Shopper offers three supple and creamy colors (chocolate, black, or luggage (shown)) and all the amenities needed for this handbag. The additions that separate this bag from the rest are the braided top handles with rings, tabbed corners, and a drawstring closure that features Michael Kors charms. Kors himself may be a tough judge, but for this bag I don’t feel the need to judge his sense of style. For the typical person, it flows amazingly. Dimensions of this bag are 10″H x 12 1/2″W x 6″D.

During grade school and high school I really had no choice but to be preppy. Private school does that to you. But now that I can dress the way I choose, I do find myself still sporting the preppy look from time to time. For some reason, I have a place in my fashionable heart for argyle. When I think of Michael Kors, exotic materials do not seem to come to mind. Not necessarily a bad thing, just not an association. But today I have been hit by the Michael Kors beauty truck. There is something about this bag that just looks so supple, rich, and creamy that I can not ignore it. The Michael Kors Ostrich Drawstring Satchel is bold and beautifully with its peanut ostrich body and perfectly accenting brown leather trim. The two shades of brown remind me of some creamy dessert and since I have such a sweet tooth, it makes me smile. The top handles show off detailed stitching along with the rest of the bags contrast stitching. I am not always a fan of drawstring tops, but this top with beaded ties brings the bags goodness together in a way I can’t describe. The hardware and studs are golden which compliment the other colors and materials. On the front, there are two flap pockets with extended tabs. I can’t figure it all out, but there is something so alluring about this bag for me that I just keep looking at it and wishing it was mine.
