We already saw this bag covered by Amanda, who really loved it. And now I found it in grey and I adore it. I have an admiration of grey handbags and this Michael Kors bag does not disappoint.

All I need is to see the bag in person and touch the leather. Then I will know if I am totally sold on it. Because the price is amazing, under $800 for a calfskin bag with karung pulls. The leather is treated with a pearlized effect which gives a nice sheen to the bag. The other aspect that catches your eye is the multiple strands that twist into the shoulder strap. This gives a modern touch to an otherwise simple bag.

The Michael Kors Tonne Hobo is unexpected but welcomed. The hobo, measurements 14″W x 11″H x 3.75″D, and has a 9″ drop. The karung pulls are both on the front zip pockets of the bag, giving a nice separation to the hobo body. On the inside there is a zip pocket, cell phone pocket, and additional pockets. And I’ll get right back to the price, which finishes this bag with two thumbs up. Buy through Bloomingdale’s for $795.

  • I got to see this in person a few weeks after I wrote about it, and I loved it all the more. The handle is really unique with all of its little strands of leather, but also really solid and functional. It really *felt* expensive, even more so than I expected.

    • That is great to hear! I am going to go look for it later. Really pleasantly surprised at the price.

    That bag is gorgeous!

I’m not sure about the pearlized effect but overall it’s a great bag.

    Absolutely beautiful!

  • Exo

It’s beautiful, I do love the bag. But I wouldn’t call this bag anywhere near affordable (at least for most people), as you mentioned on Twitter. It seems very overpriced to me. It’s something I would want to purchase if it were in a range closer to $250.

  • Exo

I’m guessing it’s the trim that makes it so pricey but… for such a small amount of trim, I really couldn’t justify that for the bag overall. It’s pretty, though!

    Can you say YSL Roadie?

    • Loquita

My thoughts, exactly – and I prefer the Roady’s sleeker design much more (though I can understand the appeal of the lower price point).

      • Bottega Veneta has a Fall/Winter 2010 bag that is totally like the Roady, much more so than this one to me

  • Jenn

It’s beautiful, for sure. It’s also really heavy. :(

  • Cheryl

I absolutely love it and would pay the price for that bag. I would use that as my everyday bag so I know I would get my money’s worth.

I love this bag! I am the hobo queen and I love the simple details on this one. I dont think the price is bad, and would be willing to shell it out for this. Megs, how about returning the disapponting bag in exchange for this one? Seems like a good trade ;-). (fb)
