Tips from eLUXURY’s Stylist

Not all of us have the fashionable intuition or stylist touch when it comes to putting together outfits. Going to the experts is always the way to go, but ends up being pricey. Luckily for you, we were able to ask eLUXURY.com’s stylist, Hayley Atkin, tips for the season. We brought you interviews from eLUXURY’s buyers, but getting tips from a stylist is the perfect guidance many of us need.

From cocktail party to meals with the in-laws, eLUXURY’s stylist Hayley put together a variety of looks which you can use when getting ready for specific events. Always bring in your own personal touch, but following some of the tips below will have you dressed impeccably.

Cocktail Party:
The best outfits, like the most successful parties, need to have the perfect recipe:

“¢ Add a drop of chic with a tight, body-con dress by Zac Posen [$970] “¢ A dollop of style with two twisty diamond-cut cuffs by Pianegonda [$470] “¢ An element of edge with funky high-heeled pumps by L.A.M.B. [$239] “¢ Stay warm with a shrunken leather jacket by Proenza Schouler [$870] “¢ Don’t forget to have a little fun with a hot pink heart clutch by Marc Jacobs Collection [$795]

Holiday Work Soiree:
For a work party, it’s best to dress like a lady showing off your inner strength and style with a form-fitting lace dress by D&G Dolce & Gabbana [$725]. For cold climates, I would pair it with a feminine jacket by Loeffler Randall [$539]. It has the perfect ballet neckline and cinched waist to show off your figure. Don’t be too prim and proper””it’s a party after all””and give this lady-like look some edge with the varnished heel pump [$419] and chain necklace, [$275] both by Maison Martin Margiela. Top off your look with the ultimate purse: the Lady Dior Cannage Bag [$1800]. Very chic!

Gathering with the In-Laws:
I would recommend soft, flowing clothes that are inviting and not intimidating. Nothing is more warming than floral, and I love this silk handkerchief dress by Phillip Lim [$550]. For colder climates, layer a colorful CARDIGAN by Lynne Hiriak sweater in violet [$245] and pair with the perfect flat boots by Loeffler Randall
[$825]. Top off your look with some style with the Cecilia Bag by Marc Jacobs Collection [$1250]. Everyone should love you: grandma in-law, mother in-law, father in-law, and cool younger sister in-law!

Spice up your wardrobe for New Years Eve with playful jewelry and accessories:
It’s the one night to not take yourself too seriously and have fun with your style. You can get away with anything (almost!). I would be bold and buy a statement necklace that adds major wow-factor to any outfit. A long silver necklace by Maison Martin Margiela is the perfect example [$275]. A giant jewel ring, also by Margiela, adds a bold, stylish touch to any outfit [$275]. The perfect New Years Eve shoe, hands-down, is the Star Bling Pump by Marc by Marc Jacobs [$530]. Of course, no outfit is complete without the perfect handbag. I say go small and colorful with either the O.O.C Glitter Studs Mini [$995] or the Satin Rad Bag [$595], both by Marc Jacobs Collection.

If I got a gift card for $1000:
I would put it towards something special and unique. A bag that has handmade qualities and extensive detail, like the Thomas Wylde Nomad Fringe Bag [$2800]

Favorite winter look for a cold climate:
I have three words: layer, layer, and layer!
Step One: Current/Elliott skinny jeans [$216] Step Two: Tuck your jeans into the ideal riding boots by Golden Goose [$1283] Step Three: A tissue-thin white tank from Proenza Schouler is always a great base [$325] Step Four: A warm sweater that hugs the body, like the Acne Jeans Bella Hooded Cardigan [$239] Step Five: A novelty military jacket by Rag & Bone [$349] Step Six: A checkered muffler by Y’s is the perfect scarf for wrapping [$380] Step Seven: An oversized bag by Maison Martin Margiela tops off the look [$599]

Favorite winter look for a warm climate:
It is always important to look chic and season-appropriate. When you live in Los Angeles or Miami, remember it’s still winter””don’t dress like a tourist. I think changing color and fabrics are the best ways to be mindful of the season. Also, it is important to learn how to buy seasonless pieces.

This floral dress by Thakoon is an appropriate year-round dress [$1150]. I would pair it with a trench coat by Phillip Lim [$725] and the super cool Riad sandals by Thomas Wylde [$950]. Must-have sunglasses by Marc by Marc Jacobs [$98] and a large goatskin baguette by Fendi complete your look [$2090].
