Marc Jacobs Turns Over a New Handbag Leaf for Resort 2015

While Marc Jacobs was practically printing money at Louis Vuitton, things at his own line, especially his handbag line, got a little bit…stale. After the brand enjoyed huge success with its hit Stam Bag in the mid-2000s, little in the way of a true hit materialized to take the brand into the post-It Bag era. Now that Jacobs has left Vuitton to bolster his own brand in advance of an IPO, its handbags are being overhauled, and that starts with Marc Jacobs Resort 2015.

The line includes the simple, circular-closured Trouble flap shoulder bag in several sizes and fabrications (including a pricey ostrich version that will set you back nine grand), as well as the previously introduced Incognito bag in two different leather textures.

The bags are markedly more simple than the pieces that Jacobs has often been known for in the past, both at Vuitton and his own line, and longtime Jacobs fans will also notice an increase in price. The day bags range in the mid-$2000s, depending on leather texture, and exotics beyond just those in the Moda Operandi pre-sale, which runs through June 30, are forthcoming.
