Marc Jacobs Iggy Shoulder Bag

Now this is a surprise. A fall bag utterly devoid of studs? But it’s true. The only hint of rocker on this Marc Jacobs Iggy Shoulder Bag is the fairly sedate chain-link strap. But that’s not the reason I was attracted to this bag, which, I admit, is an all-or-nothing bag, a love-it or hate-it bag.
No, I like it for the unique purple and teal color, which is heightened by the quilted python design. I mostly like the purple color because I am a massive fan of purple handbags. I also really like when I see brightly-colored bags, because so often bags are in darker colors- brights simply draw your eye to the bag. Plus, isn’t that tiny lock on the front just adorable?
The only complaint I have (about the bag, not the lock) is the length of the chain strap. It’s so short that it seems out of proportion considering the size of the bag. If only it had a little more length, then one would be able to sling it comfortably over the shoulder. It seems to me that it’s a little to short of a strap to do that… unless if the bag slouches sufficiently. One can hope! Buy through Saks for $1,295.
I’m strangley drawn to it, it’s not something I would expect to like but I really do. I would have to try it on to see how the strap wears though…
sorry, but this is a total miss for me. while i love the colors, my instanteous reaction to it was, oh, a diaper bag/g
i a fan of everything by marc jacobs , loved the bag , but i didnt like the strap , too short for me as u said ,
marc jacobs is marc jacobs…..he deff did this for a reason. prolly so his fabulous bag wouldn’t look like a cheap knock off chanel…he is quirky and different. hence the short chain-its fabulous and thought out. i love it-short chain and all. <3 MJ

I love the colors too, and the lock detail, but I agree with you, I think the chain strap is too short. I think this might be more effective with a more east-west shape.
I think it looks really weird. As mentioned the chain is too short, and the colour is just cheapens the brand. And the lock? Is it some tribute to Hermes or LV? The elegant Chanel-like quilt pattern is also at odds with the colour of the bag. Thumbs down.

Love the colors and pattern but would definitely have to see it in person. I disagree about it looking like a Chanel knock-off. I suppose it’s because I had an instinctive reaction to the print and color which is nothing like Chanel’s style. It screams MJ to me.
Im usually one of the first to criticize Jacobs but oddly enough i find this bag bearable. I wouldnt buy it and I wouldnt carry it even if it was given to me but I dont wholly detest it. Maybe im just getting used to the fact that Jacobs is gonna keep doing chanelesque quilted bags with hermes locks on them. Some people have even stated that the bag screams Jacobs. So hats off to him as he has managed to take signature designs of other houses and make them his own.
I personally don’t like it. The colors are off…but I would like to see a new color for this bag though.
I agree, Jsuny. I personally am quite drawn to it, but I’d def have to see it in person if I wanted to plunk down the cash for it.

Well… kinda undecided with the whole psychedelic print…but it would work better it was a clutch.
I can see myself carrying it as a clutch.
