Louis Vuitton Mask Bag

Nicolas Ghesquiere’s first collection at the helm of Louis Vuitton set a very particular tone for the brand’s bags going forward; they would be recognizably Vuitton, but very different than what predecessor Marc Jacobs designed during his decade-and-a-half leading the French leather goods behemoth. For Louis Vuitton Cruise 2014, unveiled over the weekend in Monte Carlo, that pursuit continues with even more bags.

The bags include the brand new Twist, Pinch and Mask designs, as well as more of the Petit-Malle mini trunk clutches that attracted so much attention on the Fall 2014 runway. These bags help flesh out the line for customers looking to buy into the brand’s new look, which is in keeping with Ghesquiere’s attempts to make the brand’s biggest-selling category a little more subtle while still incorporating Vuitton’s signatures like its monogram and pushlocks. These bags will be available this winter.

Love the Pinch bags. Quite different styling for Vuitton. Hope Nicholas keeps a little Vuitton tradition in future handbags as they can look a tad common.

I love the petite malle cltuches, and the Twist bag ( wish the strap was longer). The other ones are ok, but no standouts. Did anyone notice how the Pinch bag is so similar to the Bar bag that Raf Simons first created for Dior, or it’s just me?

p.s. LOVE the clothes and shoes. It’s like seeing good ol’ edgy Balenciaga shows again

the pinch looks like a dior bar bag. the mask looks like it’s inspired by the fendi bug bags… hmm…

OH LORD. These bags are heavenly!!!

The Pinch bag is beautiful but people are right it does look a bit like Dior Bar. My personal favorite is the Twist bag. The lock is kind of ingenious, I love that it says “LV” without the giant super recognizable logo. It’s still hard to separate Marc Jacobs from Louis Vuitton so I still find it weird seeing this as a Louis Vuitton collection, when some of the looks still come off as Balenciaga to me. But I’m happy with the direction of the brand.
