Louis Vuitton Tribute Patchwork Bag

Avoiding this bag like the plague or a wretched over-sized scarlet letter, I have placed my eyes and mind behind a rock for as long as I can. But there is so much fuss over this egregious error in the handbag world, that I might as well give my 2 cents. Limited edition handbags give us purse fanatics something to drool over, to lust after, to want. Louis Vuitton has released many limited edition lines in the past that were total hits. But there comes a time when no matter how limited something is, no matter how much fuss goes behind it, no matter how limited the quantity is, the product just plain old sucks.
That is exactly what we are facing with the Louis Vuitton Tribute Patchwork Bag which combines samples of 15 different Louis Vuitton Handbags from the spring/summer cruise line. There is a little of this and a little of that. The ‘this’ is seriously hideous while the ‘that’ makes my eyes burn as if I have looked into the burning sun for about 5 days straight. It is like a train wreck smörgåsbord. It is a clean edged persons’ nightmare. It is the laughing stock of the handbag world. It is sold out world wide, all 24 of them. 
Yes, that is right, sold out. I can hardly even fathom why anyone would drop over $45,000 on the top one or $38,000 on the bottom one.
The way I see it is that this was a PR stunt for a company that is well-established and really did not need the bad PR. What really gets me thinking that this is ’shameless PR promotion’ is the fact that this bag keeps getting named the “most expensive bag in the world“. Pluueaaaze. Anyone hear of a Hermes Croc Diamond Encrusted Birkin? That is a work of art and can start around $80k and reach upwards of $130k. So I don’t want to hear this false information about the Patchwork being the most expensive bag in the world. Yet, of the 24 bags, all have been sold in record time. Bet your bottom you will see one marked up on eBay soon, my guess, around $60,000. While I understand owning a piece that is so limited is enticing, I would think that the way the piece actually looks should play a part in it all. A Louis Vuitton spokesperson said that these fug bags “take all the best parts of the season’s creations and rolls them into one. We are confident that the bag is utterly exclusive and that it will remain so.” I don’t think you will have a problem with these staying exclusive, no one in their right mind will really want one, and many people that do can not afford it, and those who were tripping when they bought it are still too trippy to know the difference.

if you could actually detach each bag and wear them separately, then maybe it would have the value of all those bags combined. but all it looks like are leftover scraps patched together. i pity the fashion victim who can afford to buy this and actually wear it.

These are probably the uglyest bags I’ve ever seen!!! And they are bigger than I first thought, which I somehow think make the whole thing even worse!
Only fashion victims with absolutely no sense of style and no good taste whatsoever would spend so much on such a Frankenstein!!

But I think the story went: The person who made the tribute bag was, like us, disgusted by the patchwork mess that dares call itself a Louis. So she goes and makes one herself to prove a point and it’s now being auctioned as well?

This thing is grotesque. Looks like something out of a horror movie. Sort of puts me in mind of “The Fly” – looks like what Jeff Goldblum turned into at the very end – brendl-fly!!!

I think is a lack of respect from LV. Sometimes I think designers, desingns things like that, just to make fun of whoever wears it. It reminds me of the horrible things that sometimes you see in runways around the world. Art? no, Fashion? no, bad design, yes. I don’t get it!

I kind of like this bag. The cute handbags sewed on a all very cute but they could have done the same thing and designed it so much better (I think this as designing things myself!)-especially for Louis Vuitton. I am very dissapointed-but in the end we all know why they made it, and that is to have the most expensive bag on sale. I thought it was about the fashion! If they are such a huge and well known brand why can’t they make the most expenisve brand stylish and worthwhile?

The desire for luxury goods is understandable, I mean nice things are great – but whoever buys one of these atrocities should honestly be ashamed – their 45k would have been eternally better spent had it been donated to a worthwhile charity.

I was at LV and the LV SA actually told me himself that he would not recommend getting that bag… he also said the money would be better spent just getting each individual bag that is featured in this ‘masterpiece’ and he joked that after I buy all those bags, I could always make a bag like this one or even two or three with the excess material if I ever were crazy enough to cut the bags up and paste it like that.
I like the first one, but the second one is ugly as hell. The first one is kinda cute. I bet it would grow on you, espec. when you’re in a fun mood.

Actually, this is all the same handbag; Some commented on liking the “first” one better” look closely; it’s the back view of the same horrific abortion that lived. And as if it wasn’t ugly enough, the size just adds to the nightmare. Imagine how heavy that sucker is, even EMPTY, with all that chain link strapped over your shoulder! Girls, run, don’t walk, to your nearest TJMAXX and get something cute to tide you over until you can afford a real couture bag. Marc, stay in rehab until you can promise this won’t ever happen again!!

If anyone is as stupid as Beyonce to actually spend $52,500 on a hideous bag, they should be put down in shame… save a country that is starving to death for heavens sake. I think this purse is ugly. I, even if I had that type of money, would never purchase this hideous creation.
As for Beyonce buying it–yeah right. How many celebrities pay for anything? Nine times out of ten they are given items because the fashion house knows it’s publicity. I would have never known about this bag if Beyonce didn’t have one.
Louis Vuitton has given me an idea. I will go to a thrift store and buy purses and create my own $25000 bag. I wonder how many people would buy it–after all, it has to be fashionable, just look at the price.

In my opinion, this purse is just like a designer gown.
Personally, the purse isn’t my taste.

I’d say the real issue is where should people spend their money
and our freedom to choose how we spend our money.
Truth be told: I care less about the purse and
more about starving children, war, racism, crime, etc.
Beyonce is not the only person blowing money on what he or she wants.
Even us in the “lower economic bracket” blow money on drugs, gambling,
presents for our loved ones … I wish I knew how to encourage
others to care more about other people and their hardships when I find that even I buy into the concept of “material possessions.”
What I can say, however, is that I am learning …

wow thats really shocking for louis vuitton. they are USUALLY so …so… much better… ya know from the smaller picture up top i thought it was one of those Coach-ish shoulder bags so i thought it would be smaller, which…wouldnt be THAT bad. then when i scrolled down and saw how big it was omg i almost threw up. o well people will obviously buy it just to say to all their friends ‘i have the EXCLUSIVE luis vuitton bag blah blah…’

Any of THESE purses are so much more interesting….and worth the money….than the ugly brown and tan vinyl purses that are the typical LV purse. (I wouldn’t buy one of THEM at a garage sale for a dollar!) …. but these patchwork ones would interest me if they weren’t so darned expensive.
i think those ppl tht hav taste should understand the meaning of patchwork and it means to show their appreciation to their LV fans for all this year of supporting them. this is the best creation ever i think. is the matter of taste. it’s actually showing all of their creation into a bag and i think this is absolutely write and the writer should feel ashamed of her or his ownself cuz this is incredibly shameless to write somthing tht designer will disagree. wat a shame for the writer.
This is not the ugliest bag i have ever seen but i have seen uglier like the Spring of 2008’s Louis vuitton urban satchel that costs 150,000 (if you have not seen it yet) which is the most stupidest looking bag that i have ever seen. In my opinion about this bag, This is somewhat interesting even though most of you do not like it and you are all entitled to your own opinion..the price is more ridiculous than the actual purse itself. I would kick a person’s arse if they purchased an item that costs more than a band new car for their spoiled rotten daughter.
