If there’s one thing on which we can all agree around here, it’s that fake bags are the opposite of awesome. Both eBay and the Council of Fashion Designers of America are on board that ship as well, and they’ve gotten together to start the “You Can’t Fake Fashion” tote bag campaign, which launches at 11 a.m. today on the eBay Fashion Vault.

To mark the launch of the $35 anti-fake tote bags, whose proceeds benefit the CFDA Foundation, eBay and the CFDA asked 50 American brands and designers to customize one-of-a-kind totes that will retail for $150 each. From a minimal, modernist version by The Row to appliqued black lace from Jason Wu to illustrations by Rodarte, the designers came through. Some of the designs are better than others, of course, but we’ve got pictures of all of them after the jump. Which one is your favorite? If you’d like to purchase one of the regular or customized totes to support eBay’s and the CFDA’s fight against fakes, visit the eBay Fashion Vault at 11 a.m. today.

Boo. There are only a couple left. I really wanted the Reed Krakoff Tote!

    =(

  • Avalon Bleu

Most of the really cute ones are already sold out and it is only 7:30 AM! Bummer.

  • bisbee

Well…obviously the sale didn’t start at 11 AM!

    • http://www.purseblog.com/ Amanda Mull

Yeah, it looks like they launched it early. Which is pretty crappy, if you ask me, because all of their press materials and announcements beforehand said 11. They should have stuck to their announced time.

  • BeHappy

    bummer ….that was fast !

    • BeHappy

i went back on and bought the plain one for $35. I guess i should be happy that i got one. right?

  • KoutureCrochet.com

Sadly, fakes of these will be on all the faker sites by tomorrow! Ugh.

I loved several of them, but they were all sold out except the original one. But I did get it! :)

  • mochababe73

I like that some of the designers made this bag look like one of their actual high-end bags.
I checked online at 11:15, and most were already sold out. Unfortunate that they changed the time.

  • Mary

    How can I order?

    • Mary

never mindi, I got it. I’ll try and hoping I’ll be lucky to get any of those lovely bags!

  • gdaddo

Am I supposed to feel sorry for greedy designers who manufacture obscenely priced goods in overseas sweat shops that pay slave wages?

    • http://www.purseblog.com/ Amanda Mull

No, you’re not required to. We’re all separate and special snowflakes, after all.

  • bebe

they only ship to the USA :( Cant even get a plain one!

  • FillerAve

What a bummer that they are all sold out :(

  • mia

oh my gosh! I can’t believe I missed this! I was up since 9am EST! -_-’ I hope they do this again. I am so in love with the RK!!!!

  • michele wetmore

Was able to get the plain one.

  • harveydent

This is such an awesome idea!
BTW…where do you think the fakes are made?
I fully support this. Anyone who designs anything should be able to have that forever without it being tarnished. It’s not a matter of feeling badly for anyone, it’s about supporting another form of art, which I would love to do. That is too bad that they’re all sold out and they started the sale sooner than they were supposed to :(

  • Jill

    I got a plain 35.00 one,Bummed i couldnt get a designer one!

  • indi3r4

I also missed out on these. Wanted that Reed Krakoff one. Btw, they’re sold out so fast cause there’s only 1 of each bags were made.. so when they say one of a kind, it literally means ONE of a kind.

i really like the marchesa one :(

eBay’s involvement in this makes it a JOKE!

The sheer and overwhelming volume of obvious fakes on their site coupled with their complete lack of effort to eradicate them cast a comedic pall on their partnership in this endeavor. Really, just a joke…..

  • Nayomini

I have got duped on e Bay with fakes. I am very very cautious now.

  • ana

I love the Reed Kraoff but sold out … :(

  • Haydee

I wonder if these totes are made in America? I bought the $35 one. I’ll be sad if I see that it’s made in China.

  • Shannon

The plain one is still available! I wish I was able to get the Betsey Johnson one, my mom would love it. But I can look at all of the designer ones, and use them for creative inspiration in decorating my own when I get it.

  • Littlerock

    Hey Amanda,

Why do you think The Row bag has a question mark after it. The other bags look like they’re making a statement but THE ROW bag looks like it’s unsure about faking fashion. LOL

  • Sheils

What a bummer! This will encourage production of counterfeit because they can’t supply to demand!

  • samia

    Ahhhh… missed this!!

  • Jill

I got the plain one already today..its actually super cute and well made
