Recently there was a great article in Forbes about the World’s Most Extravagant Handbags. Yours truly was interviewed for the article and is quoted in it. I will post the article later, but will be taking you through some the most extravagant handbags according to Forbes today. At the end of the day, I will post the whole article for you to read and enjoy!

Thanks to Hitha Prabhakar for the great interview!

women-buying-bags.jpg I was doing what I do best: getting lost in cyber space, and I came upon this article. It is a tad long, but a well written article that makes you think about exactly why handbags are the perfect accessory for every woman. Enjoy the fun read!

NEW YORK — I am fond of quoting the adage “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.” However, I recently had the privilege of conducting a qualitative research study on another topic that’s near and dear to my heart: handbags.

As a result, I have come to realize that handbags can be considered—together with diamonds—one more indispensable member of a female’s close coterie.

Walking around various high-end stores in upscale Bergen County, N.J., I could not help but marvel at the diversity of the women looking for their expensive handbag “fix”: regardless of age, income or career path, women today certainly seem to understand that a beautiful, high-end pocketbook can simultaneously give them the emotional high they yearn for and telegraph to their female peers that they have class, taste and a hip sense of style.

In 2005, handbags (aka purses and pocketbooks) dominated the U.S. accessories market, accounting for more than $5 billion in sales. Consumer research from Mintel finds that British women are becoming increasingly enamored with their handbags as sales there grew by 146% between 2000 and 2005 to reach an estimated $680 million (or £350 million).

Louis Vuitton Car

Dear Vlad,

This year I was hoping to get you that Aston Martin DB9 you have always dreamed of. But did you know how much those things cost?!?! So I scratched that off the list. Then I wanted to take you on a vacation around the world. But do you know how much time and planning and jet lag that would be??? So I scratched that off the list. Then I thought about buying you a new bag, seeing that you do work on a site about bags. But really, you have one bag, how many more could you need?? So I scratched that off the list.

But then I came up with the perfect present. A present that will encompass all of the wonderful gifts I first thought of giving you. Let me introduce you to Vlad’s new Louis Vuitton Car! You want a car, you got it, you want a trip, you can drive it, you want designers, its written all over this car! Could you be any more happy that it is your birthday?!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

From,

Purse-hater perturbed in pursuit of proper bag

Yikes, this gal better run for the hills (not the ones that ‘have eyes’) because this article has gotten into the hands of the wrong crowd. Seems that all ladies and gents do not feel the same about handbags as many of us. And I thought we were normal?! :!:

purse ban

I SKULKED around the purse section at Marshalls.

I peered through racks of leather straps willing a woman nearby to put down my purse. She had nine purses in her cart. How come she had to pick up mine?

It wasn’t exactly my purse. Yet. But I saw that red bag three days before and I didn’t buy it because I was worried that it wasn’t red enough, or that it wasn’t big enough, and I wasn’t really committed to buying a purse yet anyway, and I thought $48 was too much to spend for a purse, or maybe $48 wasn’t enough to spend on a purse. But mostly I didn’t buy it three days ago because I hate purses so much.

Woo boy. Maybe I should call someone about this. A professional someone, I mean.

I am 41 years old, and I am still not a purson.

Louis Vuitton Targeted by Thieves

Louis Vuitton Robbed

While it really is disturbing that anyone wants to steal from any place, the handbag lovers hate to hear that a store close to their heart is targeted. Fashionable thieves are wandering the streets of Australia in expensive Louis Vuitton bags, accessories, and maybe even a LV umbrella after they smashed the front window at Sydney’s LV store. I have a hard time thinking these people will be hard to find, that is, if they are sporting all that the stole. But in all seriousness, find them, because I have to pay for my gear so its no fair that the don’t!

Sledgehammer-wielding thieves made off with designer clothing and leathergoods after they smashed their way into Sydney’s Louis Vuitton store this morning, police say.

The gang of four men hammered a metre-high hole in a side window on the King Street side of the designer outlet, near Castlereagh Street, about 2.50am.

The bandits hurled 20 to 30 blows into the strengthened glass before breaking through, a security guard who was passing the store told police.

The men then squeezed through the jagged gap in the window, spending about six minutes inside before fleeing the scene in a white Subaru.

Police said the thieves netted a quantity of the exclusive clothing and leathergoods stocked by the store, but exact losses were still being tallied.
