I got tired of always trying to find a place to rest my bag if I have to use a restroom and invested in a purse hook-hands down best investment ever.
and I always have baby wipes with me and some antibacterial hand lotion and/or soap. Just in case my bag has to be on the ground or floor, after I pick it up, take a tissue, some lotion on and wipe the bag-clean and moisturize at the same time.

I never put my bag on the ground no matter where are i am. My friends used to tease me when i was at school many years ago saying that we would need an extra chair for my handbag no matter where we went. They even used to ask if i wanted to book an extra seat on the plane.

I once told a co-worker that I don't put my bags on the floor because of the germs and told her about the reports on how germy and gross the bottom of your bags can get. She now thinks I'm a total germaphobe. This from a lady that doesn't use soap to wash her hands after using the restroom and merely runs her hands under the water for like 2 seconds. Ick!

Eww how gross! Have a little common sense people! If you wouldn't put your bum on the bathroom floor, why would you put your bag there?!

I am not affiliated with them in any way, but Lovin My Bags sells a very gentle antibacterial leather cleaner just for this purpose. I have used it on all of my leather bags, and especially on any pre-loved ones that I buy. It's great!

The only advice they give is to wipe down your bag with a sanitizing wipe on the outside. That could be ok for the leather, but it really just depends

There are times where you HAVE to put a bag/backpack/etc on the floor. Thanks for telling us something we already know, but what about telling us how to safely disinfect our designer bags? It's not like we can easily toss them in the washing machine...
