Jimmy Choo Zebra Patent Hobo

Every time I see a patent hobo that’s supposed to slouch a bit in order to be wearable, I die a little bit inside. Why do designers keep doing this to us? Patent doesn’t slouch. That’s one of it’s innate qualities – it’s a structured, polished material for structured, polished bags.

I really like the maybe-tacky (shut up, I like tacky) effect of the burgundy zebra print on the Jimmy Choo Zebra Patent Hobo, but I can’t help but imagine that the stiff-looking handle would probably perch itself on my shoulder instead of molding to my arm, just like the body of the bag below it. As much as I try to make myself use bags like that because I enjoy them aesthetically, I just can’t do it.

Again, the color is totally to-die-for, and I think that a big, simple bag is the only way to properly show off the variation in the material. I would have preferred, however, that the bag was rendered as a tote – longer handles would take care of the need for the shoulder strap to bend and the body of the bag to sag. I like the shape of the bag as it is, but the combination of the shape and the material seem to be a bad idea. Buy through Nordstrom for $1295.

Too much money for a patent leather bag. I happen to love it because it has the animal print. A agree about the handle, and it should have been just plain leather. Also, that gold plate on the front needs to be taken off. (fb)

Jimmy Choo is one of my favorite designers but this bag looks uncomfortable on the shoulder. I have the patent ring bag and its sooo slouchy, soft and amazing! Ive tried a similiar choo bag to this one and it was so uncomfortable! (fb)

I really like the color, but not the added print. The handle seems really stiff and uncomfortable. I can see the patent leather cracking instead of slouching, since the whole point of hobo bags is to be slouchy. (fb)

I agree — I wish the patent would/could slouch, because I do love the look of patent so much especially this time of yr- it adds that glam/classic touch w/o being over the top- that’s a gorgeous color, and I like the faint zebra pattern ( even though zebra handbags are getting tiresome imho)– i don’t like the handle either- maybe i should get a patent cross body bag

Wow, what beautiful patent leather! I love that the pattern is subtle, because patent is flashy enough on its own. I do agree, though, that it would work better as a tote, or maybe even an oversized clutch.

oooh, is that a removable bangle? they should sell that alone! i think this bag may be too unique and tacky for me. at $1300 i’d like a bag that gets a lot of use — but this one… the second time you wear it/photograph with it, it will be “old”… kwim? cuz its so unique with the purple zebra print shiny leather, people will remember it forever! I feel like reaching through the screen and yanking up the middle of the purse. I completely agree with you that the leather and designer are TO DIE FOR, but the hobo style just isn’t working. Another work of art ruined by the name plate on the front. The name plate should be on the sides so the beauty of the bag is the focus. Jimmy Choo saves me a lot of money by placing those tacky name plates on the front because there are so many bags I would be buying from them.

Amanda as always you are right on point, patent doesn’t slouch and I too like the (tacky) burgundy zebra print. I totally agree with your review though, longer handles would work better. At first glance I really liked this bag.
