The Find: Metallic Handbags

Metallic handbags have made yet another appearance this season. On the spring ‘09 runways everyone from Prada to Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga garnished their models in shimmery head to toe gold, silver or bronze metallics. Handbags are a clever way to embrace metallics, but keep in mind “less is more”. Just a hint of shimmer is all you need. The metallic handbag runs the gamut of styles: clutches, hobos, satchels and totes. Shown here are the Versace Large Metallic Hobo Bag, Jimmy Choo “Keeya” metallic tote, Corto Moltedo box clutch with tassle and a Zagliani Python Puffy Satchel.

I was just out shopping today and almost every woman I saw had on metallic sandals, but no metallic purses. I know it’s a bit matchy-matchy, but it’s a nice touch. I don’t currently own any metallic handbags (wait, I do have a Dylan clutch by Linea Pelle in silver), but I’m not opposed to looking at one – if the right one were to come along (Miu Miu makes some nice ones…..)

You hit the nail on the head…less is more when it comes to metallics. I also often like metallic color better than silver and gold metallic. I would like to find a nice metallic clutch for spring/summer…I was never much of a clutch girl until the great Goldenbleu blow-out!

I love metallic handbags. Day or night they add glamour and fun to every outfit and because they are neutrals they work well with everything.

Love metallics, as long as it’s subtle and does not look like a gold (or silver) foil.

I like metallics in my accessories.. I have a D&G metallic explosion pouchette and it is AMAZING. I highly recommend it. It doesnt feel like a hard hit, since it was only about $500-$600 range and it’s something that I can wear alone on a night out as a clutch, as a handbag with the attachment on a quick run to the store, or as a wallet tucked inside my purse.=)

I love the idea of metallic handbags for night or special events, but not really sure about wearing them during the day??? I guess if the metallic sheen and color were just right it coul work.

I think a good metallic purse is a cornerstone a a good wardrobe. It’s become like the little black dress or a classic strand of pearls. I’ll never be without one – it’s a neutral and FABULOUS.

At first I thought metallic was too out-there but I’m glad it’s in! Less will always be more especially for the metallics. But sadly when metallics are out of style eventually, you have to put it away because it’s so obvious!! :( I’m gonna enjoy it while it lasts.
