Marc Jacobs Bauletto Satin Bag marc jacobs bauletto satin bag

Whew, what a slow weekend here at the Purse Blog. Between Vlad having to take a trip to the hospital and my killer chest cold, we have been a little behind. As much as you all may have missed us, I’m sure you also missed seeing some of the beautiful bags especially during the holiday season!). So we are back at it now! (Also, if you have emailed me please be patient, I am working with a new computer and I have a funny feeling I have lost quite a bit of e-mails out in the milky way of cyber space).

Marc Jacobs has made his way into many of our hearts from time to time. While many of you wonder if metallic is still in or not, I am going to go out on a limb and say- yup it sure is!! But like many on the forum have suggested, it is probably a safer style to stick with the more subtle metalics rather than the overly shiny. The Marc Jacobs Bauletto Satin Bag is designed from metallic olive satin with gold/bronze satin trim. The satin is a nice touch, although I believe it stains easily. The bag is nicely accented with brown leather trim and golden hardware. With some aspects of the bag I wonder if it would be considered a travel bag? There is a front ID holder, top woven handles, and a side zip pocket. The ID holder leads me to assume that this bag would be used as a carryon. Quite the chic carryon if you ask me. The bag sizes up at 11″H x 12 1/2″W x 8 1/2″D, which should fit nicely under the seat in front of you or in the overhead compartment (yes, I realize that I travel too much). This shiny satin bag is available through Bergdorf Goodman for $995.

Marc Jacobs Perforated Flap Bag marc jacobs perforated flap bag This Friday is all about the black and white bags. Black and white seem to always be stylish. Anyone looking for a little black dress for New Years? I know I want a cute black dress to ring in 2006. How about a little white bag to tote around. The Marc Jacobs Perforated Flap Bag is from the Resort 2006 collection and intertwines the simplicity of white with edgy nickel hardware. Made from perforated, pebbled leather, I could see this bag completing your white look for spring or dressing up an outfit on many other occasions. I know I play this game a lot, but can’t you imagine yourself either dressing this bag up or dressing it down? I could easily see this bag going either way. One of the most alluring parts of this bag are the double chain shoulder straps with leather rings. Right away the straps draw you in for a little something different. The flap front with the signature turn-lock closure shows off a funky beat with nickel stud accents. On the inside, you will find suede lining with zipper pocket. The bag measures 81⁄2″H X 13″L X 2″W. Now my only little problem comes in at the price. Why don’t we knock off that last 0? Please? Ok I’m going to go with that will never happen, but a girl can dream. If you are a lucky enough gal to afford this beauty (or if you are quite the man to buy your girl one), grab is via Saks for $1,250.

Carlos Falchi Large Doctors Bag Carlos Falchi Large Doctors Bag I always enjoy seeing a designer range in the spectrum of bags: from good to the hideous. Carlos Falchi, you have already done hideous. Finally redemption for Mr. Falchi, at least in my opinion. Here comes some glitz in a nice sized and shape bag. The Carlos Falchi Large Doctor’s Bag is able to make up for his lack of beauty previously. This showy bag is made of soft grained metallic leather and shows off chunky topstitching and decorative tassels. I really like how the overall shape of the bag comes together to only lure me in a little more. For your shoulder, there are topstitched leather shoulder straps which will drop down about 9″. This should be ample space to tote this bag around under your arm. While many of us ponder if metallics are still in, I want you to realize that not only are they in, but this bag is quite a hit in the metallic department. I like to see a metallic that is not too over the top but still glam. Point for Mr. Falchi. On the inside you will find satin floral lining and a three-compartment interior. So when you open this bag up or let someone peek in, they will see a beautiful inside too. I really dig the size and shape of this bag- not too big, not too small, but just right (15″ x 7″ x 5.5″). If you are in the market for a metallic bag, I think you should check this beauty out (or if you are in the market to fill my metallic bag void- either or Carlos Falchi Large Doctors Bag icon wink ). Available via eLuxury for $665.

That I am big into BYOB is certainly no secret. I’ve featured several bag companies in the past that came out with their own interpretation of Build Your Own Bag, and as time goes by, the trend seems to be catching on. With shoppers feeling the need for adding a personal touch to the every day bags they purchase, the BYOB concept provides easy customization – and with fast turnaround times with the manufacturers, you don’t have to wait for your custom bag 6 weeks anymore either.

Yoox USA teamed up with eight artists and designers who each contributed a base bag that can be personalised with different matching addons, that are either snapped on, zipped on or velcro patched on. That leaves you with a total of about 40 different looks that you can combine in an easy interface. Seperate PDF files provide detailed instructions on how to assemble your self-made bag. Prices range from about $70 up to $250+, dependent on the amount of charms, add-on bags and patches you want to buy. Looking good, some of the designs are rather different, but I still think a lot of people’s tastes are covered in this colorful mix. More info…

Kate Spade Easton as Four Circle Bag kate spade easton as four circle bagLittle to my mother’s knowledge, my dad actually likes modern art, modern homes, just mod style. Wow. Who would have thought that? Trust me, if you knew my dad, you wouldn’t. My mom on the other hand loves traditional comfort and coziness. For all the years they have been married, my mom just recently found out from my dad that all the while when she designed and decorated our homes, he actually liked something else. Wow, what a man. So when I spotted this bag I immediately began to wonder if my dad would like it, but my mom would not.

To many of us, Kate Spade manifests itself in clean and sleek designs. The Kate Spade Easton as Four Circle Bag puts the mod in modern. Because I didn’t know any of this info, I must let Kate Spade’s site explain it to you: “A jewel of the Chesapeake Bay, Easton is known primarily for its abundant waterfowl, Audubon Society wetlands, and, of course, the Easton Decoy Festival, a celebration of America’s beloved hunting accoutrement. The bright cotton canvas recalls the marine tradition that is at the heart of this historic bayside town.” Yep, I couldn’t have told you anything like that in my own words and made it make sense. This bag is completely modern, completely, edgy, and completely chic. I wonder if last weeks challenge on America’s Next Top Model could have been made a little more mod with this bag. This circle bag is line with Saratoga Springs print cotton. Available in either orange or hibiscus pink, I would definitely opt for the pink. I believe some of the most fashionable of us could pull this off- the question is do any of you want to? Buy this totally modern bag through Kate Spade for $225.

Marc Jacobs Collection Satin Mia marc jacobs collection satin miaThe Holiday’s call for their own bag. This is not a rule, but I’d sure love try make it one. This way, I would have a reason or excuse to buy a bag for this holiday season coming up. For some reason, this Marc Jacobs Collection Satin Mia screams out holiday cheer. I look at the bag, and I get happy- just thinking about all the mistletoe, snow, lights, gifts, parties, and New Years. This Mia bag is the bag I want under my arm this New Year’s. Anyone else get the feel I get too? Maybe it is just me, but even if this bag did not remind me of the holidays, I would still want it.

The bag intertwines soft satin with smooth leather and canvas. You really just have to look at the bag to understand to beauty. Actually, I wish there was a closer picture for all of us to meticulously look at each detail. For now, we will go with this picture and some of the specs. This bag features satin with smooth leather and canvas. The combination of the three seems so odd, but I am so intrigued. There are topstitched leather shoulder straps with adjustable with buckles. The satin is my favorite part of this bag- looks like it light pinks on the ends and fuchsia in the middle. Stay with me here- there are also canvas strap details with large, round Marc Jacobs studs. I know it seems a little confusing, but looking at the bag will make you say “Ahh I see!”. The hardware accents the bag in antiqued brass, and there are brass rings at the sides of the bag. Open the bag up and you will find fine twill interior lining with a zipped pocket. Sizing up at 12″ x 8″ x 4″ at its base, this bag is calling my name. Don’t make it stop, because I might just have to give in. Buy this gorgeous winter beauty via eLuxury for $725.

Hogan Small Fringed Shopper hogan fringed shopperAfter the busy week of business, I have some time to get back to you all, and of course the bags! Miss me? Vlad kept you all up to date on some bags bits, and now I’d love to show off some beauties to you. Although I may be a little late on this beauty, I don’t want to leave it out. The Hogan Small Fringed Shopper has made quite a splash in the world of fashion. Usually I am not one to love fringed bags (remember that McQueen horror?), but this bag features a classy shape which is able to perfectly show off the perfect accenting two-tiered suede fringe. The bag is trimmed in metallic leather and the bulk of the body sports gray suede fringe with perfectly accenting tonal hardware. The shoulder straps with their cute rings add the perfect finishing touch. Available in gold leather with brown suede or silver leather with gray suede, buy this ‘yay’ fringe bag at Bergdorf Goodman for $745.

Let's be best friends.
