When I think of crochet, I stereotypically think of a hobby of older women. Shame on me, but there are some pre-conceived notions that we all can’t kick. Then again, in college I had a roommate who showed me that knitting and crocheting is not just for the stereotypical ‘person’, because my roommate sure did make a kick butt blanket or two. What about when it comes to bags? Miu Miu has released two crotchet bags and I want to hear your opinion on if you like crotchet in general and which bag you like better. On the left, we have the Miu Miu Crochet Frame Bag which shows off a natural color crochet with a contrast leather frame and handle. This bag measures 8¼”H X 14¼”L X 4″W. Pre-order the bag behind door number 1 for $850 through Saks. Then on the right we have the Miu Miu Crochet Bag which is quite similar and shows off the natural crochet with a darker contrasting leather strap and trim. This bag is a bit of a different shape and measures 9½”H X 14¼”L X 3¼”W. Purchase the bag behind door number 2 also for $850 via Saks.

All of you should be proud of me right now. Usually I am loving so many bags everyday that it is ridiculous and impractical. For the past few days, I have felt very ambivalent to the bags I have posted. Here comes another bag leaving me undecided. While I am under the impression that long and lean is easily accepted, I am not sure that I love that aspect in a bag. The Celine Large Dorine Bag is designed from supple calfskin along with gold metal hardware and two outside pockets with buckles at each end. I can’t really imagine how this bag would hang on the body; to me it looks more like a yoga bag than anything else. Some other features include canvas contrast lining, a top zipper closure with leather pull, both cell phone and zip pockets on the inside, and two small leather straps with gold logo blazon medallion on both the front and back of the bag. I guess I was hoping this bag would be one of those crazy dual size bags that unbuckles to be a more size appropriate tote or could be buckled up to be the actual size of 20″ x 8.5″ x 6.25″. Because I am being so indecisive, why don’t you all let me know what you think of this bag: available via eLuxury for $1525.

To wrap things up for today, I’ve saved the best for last. For the past months, there’s been a huge fuzz about the Fendi Wisteria Spy. Finding a Wisteria Spy seemed like hopelessly chasing a phantom. I would like to share why this was the case.

The Wisteria represent the ultimate peak of exclusivity. It is that rare that even the Fendi SA in Hawaii didn’t really know what to do when he was inquired about it. The Fendi corporate office finally managed to dispatch a picture of the Erlkönig itself. This bag takes at least 30 days to manufacture. Relatively speaking, that is more than a Maybach takes to produce. The reserve list for this bag is only 3 in the whole U.S. Only 25 to 30 bags of this kind will ever see the light of the day, ever. The U.S. headquarters agreed to purchase only 10 bags total, for only those customers who reserve them.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you won’t have one. As much as you hope and wish, beg and sob, you will never own one. Not even remotely. I wish I could put it any nicer, but I can’t.

Now I will just have to deal with my woman bothering me for the rest of the year about why she can’t have one. Life is really tough sometimes.

Because there is so much talk about it on the forum, I want to give my picks for my Spring 2006 “IT” bags. For me, the winner is an easy choice. The Dior Gaucho takes the cake for the big bag this spring. Dee-Dee over at the forum agrees with me on this beauty. Showing off the slouchy look and chunky detail, this bag has found its way to my heart and it isn’t leaving anytime soon. The off-white washed leather with aged silver-tone jewelry is also my color choice. I want it. Wait, no; I need it. While my top choice goes to the Dior, there is another bag that you should be looking out for. Take the Fendi B Bag. A bit different, but still sexy this bag is available in a variety of materials and colors. Take note that one of the big materials for spring is patent leather. Ah, the dreaded patent leather is in style again. Many of the B bags are accented or fully made from patent leather. From top left, first we have the white lace B Fendi bag with floral beading, then the white canvas B Fendi bag with blue patent leather trim, next the gray leather B Fendi bag, and lastly the straw B Fendi bag with embroidery and green python trim. Are you oohing and aahing at any of these?

Some ladies think the Chloe Edith may make it big (pictured above). I wouldn’t expect anything less than the house of Chloe to produce another must have bag this spring. I have also found many love the Jimmy Choo Leather Tote, but for right now I am going with the Dior Gaucho and the Fendi B Bags. This Spring 2006 will be full of chunky heels, exotic skins, and pattern prints if you ask me. But let’s wait and see where spring takes us! Anyone a fan of Thoreau? I still remember my teacher my sophomore year in High School preaching how Walden was our guide to life and the line “Simplify, Simplify, Simplify” was the best quote to live by. I can’t forget that line and I always attempt to remember it from time to time in my life. For example, this Dolce & Gabbana bag manifests itself in simplicity. Ok, maybe that wasn’t exactly what my teacher meant by simplicity (since Thoreau did go to live in the woods), but this bag is simply beautiful! Isn’t that close enough? . The Dolce & Gabbana Leather Shopper is made from divine ivory leather with golden hardware and stud accents. The only part of this shopper that calls a bit of attention is the logo plate on the front and hanging logo charms, but I find them to be quite beautifully subtle (and if the D&G charms aren’t subtle enough for my teacher and Thoreau, we could just chop them off). On the inside there is space for a cell-phone, PDA, and zip pockets (ok D&G you are killing me with the un-simple stuff!!) This bag measures 9 1/2″H x 13 1/2″W x 4 1/2″D. My point was far-fetched but you may have got my drift. Here comes the completely un-Walden like part of the story: buy this bag via Neiman Marcus for $1,175. Hey, I tried.

In the past days since Christmas, Megs had made a secret out of her latest bag purchase and finally she’s decided to come clean about it. It’s a spankin’ new Fendi Spy in honey in soft Nappa. Pictures in its very own dedicated forum thread.
