Luella is everywhere. Nobody can get enough of her fresh designs and simple beauty. At the moment I am in love with her Luella Doctor Gisele Bag. It screams out boldness, beauty and ingenuity all wrapped up in flower power. The bag is a beatiful vintage shape made of tangerine calfskin showing off light pink and green floral appliqués. The doctor-bag like shape immediately catches your eye showing off the framed magnectic closure along with the cutout flowers and golden hardware. The bag could not possibly add any more flavor than it has, such as the signature strappy detail with grommets and rings that finish the body off perfectly.
The bag is finished off with top handles and the signature heart tags and is lined with tan striped cotton. Like I mentioned before, the shape is a divine 8 4/5″H x 14 2/5″W x 4 4/5″D. It is small, independent companies like SF bay area-based Escama (fish scales in Portugese) that are making a global impact. They partnered up with two woman’s cooperatives in Brasília, Brasil to provide jobs to women in economically challenged communities, who take much pride in creating handbags from recycled materials.

Escama offers three supple and leightweight pull tab variations, a shoulder bag, a cosmetic bag and the pictured messenger bag in 7 colors. All bag’s insides are made from high quality nylon liner. The full shiny weave collection is only available in Cali retail stores, while Hip & Zen sell the shoulder bag and the cosmetic bag online for $80 and $28, respectively. Why not purchase a cute little bag for your mother this Mother’s Day(Sunday, May 8th, don’t forget!). I have found two of my favorites, and would love to share them with you and hopefully you can share them with your mothers.

For starters, I could not pass up the Valentino Embroidered Flap Bag. Astonishly-extravagantly to die for.
