The Car Bags

Time for some real shoulder candy today, on this wonderful Thursday! Finally we found handbags that won’t just be appreciated and adored by the ladies, but also admired by the guy hanging off the other arm. Last week’s Columbus Dispatch had an article printed on Amy Isenhour’s fantastic creations and Megs’ granma was kind enough to save a copy for us — we just couldn’t pass it up!

Amy’s works were inspired by her long years of travelling vintage car shows with her dad, leaving her with the clever idea to combine old American mucle car appeal with the finesse of shoulder fashion. And what came out of this unique marriage is absolutely fantastic. The Checkered Flag Handbag (pictured in the middle) is made of original vintage automotive fabrics from the 50’s and 60’s, along with the original steering wheel handle inspired from a 1965 Ford Mustang. Classic car emblems such as the “GT” and the Cobra adorne its front. Authentic headline fabric for the bag interior and an interior side pocket top off the wonderful creation.

To your left, The “Camaro” Handbag makes its appearance in original automotive orange and black houndstooth fabrics from the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro “Indy 500” Pace Car. As with the Checkered Flag bag, this bag also features an original steering wheel handle inspired from classic cars of the 1960’s. A Chevy small block 350 (cubic inches) emblem sports on its front — you damn well know there is plenty of horses and torque under that hood! The 15” x 4” x 7” handbag is completed with black twill lining with large zipper pocket.

Last but not least, The “Stang” Handbag once and for all puts an end to the long-time rivalry between Mustangs and Camaros, showing that both All American favorites can work wonders side by side on the catwalk! This bag features automotive blue and rosette embossed fabrics from the original 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible and an original steering wheel handle inspired from the 1965 Ford Mustang.

These creations are head-turners, for sure. However, the exclusive creations come with its price — from what I remember, the newspaper quoted a range between $200-350, contact Amy directly for a quote on pricing and delivery.
