Gucci Announces Limited Edition Bag to Benefit UNICEF in Celebration of Mother’s Day

Gucci’s partnership with UNICEF enters its sixth year, with past collaborations including a holiday collection, a partnership with Rihanna, and the funky Joy Boston Bag with Snowmen.

Introducing another limited edition bag designed by Gucci Creative Director, Frida Giannini, for Mother’s Day benefiting UNICEF, this bag is intended as a bag for a mom on the move. Both functional and fashionable, the bag features an off-white fabric body with Gucci’s signature green-red-green web and leather trim. The exterior of the bag has a front-zip pocket along with two open side pockets, while the interior is also usable with a zip pocket and flat open pocket with three compartments.

The bag will be sold exclusively at the Digital Falgship, gucci.com, with 25% of the retail price from each bag sold donated to UNICEF HIV/AIDS programs. Gucci choose to guarantee a minimum donation of $70,000 to go to HIV test kids for expectant mothers.

“My inspiration for this special edition bag came from my trip to Malawi with UNICEF in November 2009, when I witnessed first hand the AIDS epidemic that affects entire generations of families. As part of our continued efforts with UNICEF to improve these circumstances, the bag allows all those who would like to help make a difference in the lives of these families to contribute a gift that will have double meaning on Mother’s Day,” said Frida Giannini, who is also on the Board of Directors of PPR’s Foundation for Women’s Dignity and Rights.

Price is $970 via Gucci.com.
