Fashion Week Handbags: Gucci Spring 2011

If Gucci‘s accessories designers have anything to say about it, the trend toward handbag minimalism is over, starting with Gucci Spring 2011.

Considering last season’s retro-leaning accessories collection and the current trend climate, I expected another line of referential, staid handbags from the Italian brand during its recent presentation in Milan; I was dead wrong. Not only were the clothes bright, bold and more than a tad tropical, but the bags were sexy statement-makers in exotics, metallics and intricate woven leather. Naturally, my favorites were the big carry-all satchels like the one at left.

I love that large brown bag too! The belt does seem very Hermes inspired though. The bamboo handle bag is gorgeous too. Solid colour keeps the bags from looking too embellished. It’s good that some designers go against the grain, I personally love the “new” minimalism, but it would be boring if all of the collections showed the same thing over and over again.

I am a huge fan of the carry-all satchels as well, especially #11! A few of the bags do seem very Hermes inspired. I’m also not a huge fan of the long strapped bags with all of the braiding detail. It seems too western for my tastes.

No one mention the ‘B’ word ;). There are 3 bags I won’t be able to choose between, I just love that saddle leather, it will look better and better with age.

I don’t know where to begin, I LOVE each and everyone of these bags, Kudos to GUCCI!!!!! They are always phenomenal with their luxurious items. That large brown bag and the snake skin bag they are HOT, HOT, HOT!!!!!!!!! I am a tall girl so big bags always rock for me.

Also ladies, I wll have my own line of handbags and jewelry coming out soon, hopefully by Christmas, I would love to have you as customers and viewers, I will keep everyone posted on what’s happening.

I’ve never been that into Gucci, but the black, bamboo-handled bag is gorgeous, as is the shoulder bag below it. I’ve always wanted one of the bamboo-handled bags.

I attended the Gucci artisan’s workshop, at the Gucci boutique in Beverly Hills, and to see how much work goes into one of those bags was amazing. They also gave an explanation of how they make the bamboo handles and what type of bamboo is used and the age of the bamboo. It takes a lot to make a bamboo handle.

Holy crap. Love, love, FREAKIN LOVE IT. All of it! That big brown satchel — and the snakeskin version — made me catch my breath for a second. Never been a Gucci girl, but oh how I want that bag!!

My gucci was falling in my book it’s dead for me now I agree with many the obvious and rather tacky display of non talent behind these shall we say inspired bags Chloe vuitton and Hermes please some one help these people help themselves for me gucci died when master Tom ford and genius de sole left the brand but this is just absurd how pathetic can you be when you openly copy others. Gucci now sells non but true but real fakes????? I guess they just like to keep the name linked to some sort of scandal that’s. Just the gucci ways is it not ? Frida if anything don’t come out this season you have no talent !
