Every year, the color experts at Pantone get together and consult their crystal balls to tell us what’s going to be happening in the year ahead. The company’s track record on predicting elections and natural disasters is somewhat spotty, but when it comes to telling us which colors will be hot in the coming 12 months, Pantone’s usually right on the nose. Last year it was Tangerine Tango, which indeed dominated the warm months of 2012. For 2013, things are a little bit tamer – classic, regal Emerald is Pantone’s 2013 Color of the Year.

Emerald is more lively than Hunter and more muted than Kelly; it’s a perfect medium, as greens go, and it can function as a neutral in the same way that a deep blue does. It’s also a color that looks at home on a variety of skin tones and as a part of many different personal styles. If you’re someone who’s more comfortable with neutrals and hoping to give your wardrobe a little bit of a push, Emerald is both an effective and relatively safe way to do it. Below, we’ve searched out the best emerald handbags on the market right now, just in case you want to get a start on the trend. After all, 2013 is but a few weeks away.

I’m one of those (annoyingly) festive holiday people who loves decorating, still wants to sit on Santa’s lap, sings every holiday song I know and dreams of a white Christmas each year. I’ve been humming a variety of holiday tunes in the office recently, and I’m waiting for someone on the team to give me a swift kick in the rear; even I know it can be rather irksome. I can’t help it though – this really is the most wonderful time of year for me.

I caught myself singing Silver Bells this morning and decided to go with it for a post. The holiday season calls for an exorbitant amount of party outfits, and that means you must plan your accessories accordingly. Whether you are going to a holiday office party or out for New Year’s Eve, you can’t go wrong with a silver clutch. We rounded up the best there are, just for you.

It’s been one crazy year thus far, but we have so much to be thankful for. Vlad and I are thankful for our family, friends, health, and great blessings. And on top of that, we are thankful for our work; from our amazing team we have the pleasure of calling our coworkers to our fabulous forum members and readers. Thank you for continuing to visit PurseBlog and PurseForum and supporting us.

In the spirit of autumn, we decided to take out a bag of goodies from Oscar de la Renta to capture the essence of fall. Immaculate sunlight, golden yellow leaves, blue skies, crisp air, and barren trees offered a great backdrop to showcase his lovely accessories that I’ve found myself coveting. A very happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours! (more…)

Growing up in Florida I always yearned for the chance to experience all four seasons, especially fall and winter. Now that NYC is home, I live for cold weather because the crisp air means I get to indulge in sweaters and jackets. I’m one of those people who buys countless new coats each fall and with the arrival of November, it’s time to break out the cold weather gear.

My style can be described as laid back with a touch of rock and always comfortable. This is precisely what AllSaints delivers. I wear their t-shirts in the summer non-stop. Come fall and winter, you will find my closet sprinkled with their sweaters, jackets, and coats. I put together three different looks to take you from day to night with the cold weather items I desperately want to add to my wardrobe. And don’t say I didn’t warn you, but once you pop onto AllSaints website you will be hooked. They have a knack for designing impeccably chic outerwear (among everything else).

Outfit 1: Everyday Chic with the AllSaints Pasco Jacket

I’m having heart palpitations over this outfit, starting with the incredibly luscious jacket. The AllSaints Pasco Jacket is luxurious, long, and the shearling will keep you warm during the colder months. I keep staring at the screen and find myself trying to pet this jacket. Isn’t it amazing? With a piece this chic, the rest of your outfit can remain simple. I choose a crisp white top, leather skinny pants, a bootie, and a statement necklace. Of course you have to add a bag to the outfit. The long drop strap on this chic black tote will work perfectly for everyday.

Outfit 2: Casual and Comfortable with the AllSaints Check Gaboury Parka

I have a leggings obsession, especially when paired with an oversized sweater dress. My holy grail is to find a great parka to pair with my signature outfit. When I set my eyes on the AllSaints Check Gaboury Parka, I was hooked. It is perfect for long walks through the city on weekdays and weekends alike. The red plaid wool parka is offset with leather sleeves, and this gives the edge I am looking for, while retaining an overall comfortable vibe. Finish it off with thigh high leather boots and an embellished wallet, and you will find me living in this combo.

From top left: Weave Pullover Dress ($150), Elissa Wallet ($90), AllSaints Raisa Leggings ($55), Boyar Thigh Boot ($435), Suvorov Empire Ring ($30), Check Gaboury Parka ($650).

Outfit 3: Night On the Town with the Leather Valley Biker Jacket

A leather jacket is a wardrobe must. And pairing it with a shiny and eye-catching mini skirt is my night on the town obsession. AllSaints makes beautiful leather jackets and coats, and the Valley Biker Jacket is getting my vote right now. To add extra edge, the jacket has an asymmetrical zipper and a metal buckle fastening to help give the jacket a fitted look at the bottom. Add a simple top, a funky necklace, and bronze booties to give this outfit major jazz. And of course, you must finish your look with a bag. I am digging the fold-over black clutch that has an embellished middle panel.

Earlier this week, the PurseBlog Team along with over a third of our country was and continues to be affected by the devastating Superstorm Sandy. We fared extremely well and feel very lucky, but others are still struggling. We are working hard to get PurseBlog back to normal, but in the meanwhile we wanted to check on all of our readers. We hope you and your family and friends are ok.

The devastation this storm has caused is widespread and overwhelming, with many left without power, losing their homes and the awful loss of lives. There are great organizations, like the Red Cross, in place to help people out that were affected by Superstorm Sandy, so please help if you can or a simple gesture like reaching out to those in need is massively helpful. We have been thinking of everyone affected, please let us know how you are doing in the comments below.

About a quarter of the country is being affected by what has been dubbed Frankenstorm Sandy. We are prepared and have our apartment as ready as possible, so now we just sit and wait. Unfortunately, I expect power and internet to go out. This being said, as much as we all love handbags, being safe is much more important. If you are sitting around and looking for something to keep your mind off the impending storm, I’ve rounded up some of the most read articles on PurseBlog of all time.

But most importantly, stay safe everyone! Join us on Twitter to help pass the time and we will be back to regular schedule soon.

Of course the focus of PurseBlog is handbags, but the lifestyle that goes along with loving designer handbags spreads into the entire luxury lifestyle. Handbags may be my first true love, but shoes, jewelery, and clothing are a close second. I spend hours scouring websites and always find myself lost in categories other than handbags and mentally putting together outfits. This weekend’s weather is supposed to be a little dreary and a bit cooler, but with fall officially kicking off, I want to transition my wardrobe as well.

I’ve been lusting after the YSL Cabas Chyc bag and for fall the black lizard effect version is a great staple. My weekend wardrobe (ok my everyday wardrobe) is about comfort while still being stylish, so a great pair of jeans and a tee will be the perfect complement. (more…)

It’s funny to think Victoria Beckham was once (ok still is) a Spice Girl and now has founded a very highly touted brand of clothing and accessories. Many other celebrities try to go the same route, and the majority don’t succeed; instead, they need to turn to large department stores to make mass produced items at an accessible price point. But Victoria went from being Posh, to being posh in her day-to-day life and style, to designing a brand that now shows during fashion week and has price tags that rival some of the industry’s finest.

I’ve loved her bags from the beginning but both Amanda and I talk about the hefty price tags. While this would deter some, it seems to not impact Victoria; her brand continues to grow, and her handbags have been also growing in popularity. But for those of us who love her aesthetic but yearn for a better price tag, the Victoria Beckham Mini Satchel Shoulder Bag is just about the best you are going to get, coming in right under $1,600.
