Fendi Spy Bag
Fendi Spy Bag

We all have been with the Fendi Spy Bag as it has taken its ups and downs in the handbag world. What I love about the Spy is that it is different. The look of the bag is not similar to any other. The handles set it apart with the knot detailing. The shape has become household; we all know it. And as I have watched the Spy go from the hottest bag to less desirable, I have noticed that there is still a huge following of the Fendi Spy Bag. To be honest I continue to carry my Spy bag and love it! It is chic and my version, in honey, is able to be worn year around. The Fendi Spy has been re-invented hundreds of times, in different colors, leathers, materials, there was even a luscious Fendi Alligator Spy. There have been huge misses, like the Fendi Sequin Spy Bag, but the fact remains that this bag has held its own for years. So if you ask me, while it may not be at the peak of its curve, the Fendi Spy Bag is a classic bag that will always be recognizable and always be something a little different from the mainstream. There is a new color at Net A Porter, a stunning hue of purple, dubbed plum. Buy through NAP for $2,250.

I have to agree with you about The Spy. This is one of those catch-22 bags, in that it’s so ubiquitous on the fake market that when carrying it people can’t tell the difference. But, that wouldn’t stop me from carrying it. :) Also to be mentioned is the craft put into the leather. This bag, when empty weighs less than a pound. It’s amazing, and it’s a classic.

I´m a downer again, but I have never liked any versions of this bag. It is just so baggy. Maybe this bag looks ok on a short person, but I can´t imagine carrying something like this.

I love the bag!!! Unfortunately at $2,000.00 +++ I could not get the original Fendi. I finally got myself the “inspired” Spy Bag and I love it. I would like to say, not everyone can afford to spend $1,000 or $2,000 on a handbag. In todays economy I believe the list is only going to get longer…….. People should not get so offended by knockoffs / inspired styles what they should find offensive is the price of the designer bags.

You are dead-on girl! This bag has become one of my “go-to” bags a veritable work horse if you will. I have to agree with ‘pjh’ , replicated looks aren’t that serious for me- my 21 year old niece having admired mine for a cpl. of years now-broke down and bought what I can only refer to as a ” helluva faux “. She recognized the importance of this bag and has vowed to own the Real Thing as soon as she pays off that student loan…….

Well I think people who are upset about using a “fake” FENDI are probably mad because they paid up to 4,000 when they could have paid 100’s since some are very similar now a days ;) I would much rather save that money for my sons college fun then the FENDI bag..lol I have one that has exactly everything the real one has its leather and beautiful and guess what i got it for $30 hahaha! i would go to any girl that has the real one and put mine next to it and nobody would tell the difference i challenge somebody?? anybody?? and if my bag is real then i got a great deal :) some girls get all the luck in the world.

omg… $30?!?! where did u get it from?? I wana get one too!!!! I do buy branded stuffs but im not very into fendi…. Lol… but i love the design of this bag… n i dun mind carrying an “inspired” one…

I ever read from some site that “inspired” means it look alike but doesnt have the logo on the bag (eg the word FENDI)….

well “fake” is a different thing… it copies every details… exactly the same as original….

I wouldnt dare to carry a “fake” bag but I dont see any problem with an “inspired” bag… haha… everything has their “inspired” version… get on with it….

This is a beautiful bag. It’s such a wonderful addition to my collection. The bag itself looks great on any woman, whether she is in her 20’s to 30’s or even in her 40’s and 50’s. It’s my absolute fave. To all those who purchase “inspired” or “fake” or whatever terminology you feel comfortable using to justify your cheapie knockoff…most people who are into collecting handbags/fashionistas/etc…can tell. The stitching and quality of the leather is a dead giveaway. Honestly, what is the point of buying a knockoff? And honestly a $30 fake can’t possibly look good. For that price go buy a Nine West bag off a sale rack somewhere. It’ll probably look better.

I bought this bag recently from the markets in Hong Kong for about $AUD40. I am not in to high end brands names and think spending $1000s on a bag is a waste of money… but then again I’m not a very materialistic person.

Anyway, I saw the bag and fell in love with it and had to buy it. It doesn’t have any Fendi markings on it at all, and it wasn’t until the lady who owned the stall said it was Fendi inspired that I realised. I don’t see anything wrong with buying an inspired bag, I fell in love with the style and not the brand. I couldn’t care less if it had the Fendi branding on it or it was just a bag in Target.

Mine is a very high quality leather and the stitching is flawless, making it a quality bag. I cannot fault it and I am happy with it which is all that matters. Essentially in the end, your $1000+ bag would only be worth a very small margin of the price if the Fendi branding was removed, as that is what you are paying for – the brand.

The problem with purchasing a fake is that the profits typically fund violence — such as organized crime and terrorism. By purchasing them, you are supporting that.

It’s never good to buy fake and you just look silly carrying a knock off because everyone knows it’s not the real thing.

    RE: BEBE

COUNTERFEITING INVOLVES SLAVE LABOUR AND DRUG TRAFFICKING
WHAT DOES THAT SAY ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER?
IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN THEN YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOUR SELF..
..I THOUGHT YOUR COMMENT WAS VERY IMMATURE…IF YOU CANT AFFORD THE REAL DEAL THEN GO AND BUY YOUR $30 HANDBAGS BUT DO NOT COMPARE IT TO SOMETHING PEOPLE HAVE PAID 1000′S OF DOLLARS FOR….IF PEOPLE WANT QUALITY AND ARE WILLING TO SPEND $4000 ON A BAG THEN YOU SHOULD RESPECT THEM AND NOT LAUGHT AT THEM..
I HAVE A FEW EXPENSIVE BAGS AND HAVE NEVER LOOKED DOWN ON SOMEONE WITH A $30 BAG. HOWEVER I DO FIND IT SAD WHEN SOMEONE HAS THE “REPLICA VERSION OF MINE” .ITS VERY EASY TO DISTINGUISH BETWEEN AN AUTHENTIC OR REPLICA BAG AND IT JUST MAKES YOU LOOK TACKY AND ALSO MAKES THE BRAND LOOK BAD…IF I CANT AFFORD SOMETHING THEN I WONT BUY IT..ITS REALLY THAT SIMPLE…
SO BY PUTTING YOUR 2 CENTS IN YOU HAVE MADE YOURSELF LOOK VERY STUPID INDEED…
    RESPECT OTHERS!!!

fake, inspired, authentic, child labor, drug trafficking??? Geeeez…

i think a little more research should be done on where and how any purse is made if this is what tickles your fancy. you’d be surprised…
and killing an animal to make a luxury product, isn’t pretty.

when i was younger i worked in the handbag dept for several years…and had to train in recognizing non original bags, because tricky people were buying originals, then buying a fake, and then trying to return the fake with the original reciept…ugh
fyi, i’m sure that the rookies who went ahead and did a refund, unknowingly reshelved that fake and sold it as real…who knows, you actually could have paid thousands for a fake…???

i’ve seen the originals and the inspired…i think one obvious difference for this particular bag (spy bag), is that the originals have the “F” logo within the bag…the inspired bag does not…

which may be the difference between fake and inspired…
the fakes, attempt to replicate the originals inside and out.
inspired bags are just bags, inspired by another. (it doesn’t claim to be any brand)
maybe all brands to some extent, use eachother for inspiration…if something is “in”, they all aim for that same style/look…
like when you walk through a handbag area, you’ll see similar colors, sizes, styles etc…

anyhow, i do feel for the people who have paid for the original. hey, if you have the money, then work it!!! :)
but at the same time, those who have bills to pay and can’t afford the bag but love the look, then do what you gotta do!!! :)

spending time on a bag someone is carrying and concluding that its a non original, then being snotty about it, is a waste of time.
if its that important, then go up to that person and ask them if their bag is real…i’ve done it to a lot of shady clients.
***the part that should disgust you or make them look stupid is their response…if its clearly a knock off and they claim that its the real deal…then thats lame.***

quality is the key to distinguish the 2; not where and how a bag was born and how much money you have to cough up to get it…it can be a little hypocritical if moral is your concern.
a bag could have been made in a legit factory by workers who are of age, but how the materials got here…mehhh…???

i do agree, sweat shops, trafficking, etc are horrible.
but the process that is necessary to get the material from an animal (for the end product) is not so glamorous. its very different from how an animal is slaughtered when used for a food source…
and don’t worry, those of you who are able to spend thousands of dollars on a bag, are ENVIED and some may be even a little jealous of you!!! i know i am! (im assuming you guys are rich!!! teehee)
but looking down on or ridiculing someone who can’t afford one, is just plain caddy and mean…a person could be carrying a bag for sentimental reasons…???

i don’t think the blame should be put on the person who purchased a non original bag. the focus should be on the people who allowed these bags to surface.

you may think that someone is sporting a wannabe version of yours, i can almost guarantee that someone is thinking the same about you…not that its a fake/inspired, just the fact that someone else within the same vicinity, carrying a similar purse!!! oh hell no!!! :)

*a bag doesn’t make the person, the person makes the bag.* (young grasshopper, hahaha)
i’ve met rude hobo bum people who look like they crawled out of a hole with high end accessories.

the rich but modest clients who were able to purchase expensive bags, got them because of the bag itself.
they didn’t really care that the bag was X amount of dollars and feel that people less fortunate should know they spent that much or think less fortunate people have no right to even try…

if you’re worried about the knock offs floating around and it keeps you awake at night, then don’t get the original version.
use that money towards making ONE customized, never to hit stores, all time original handbag. that would be awsome!!!

if you’re concerned about what the money spent buying a purse is supporting, maybe if you have some extra mula, i’m sure organizations who are trying to put an end to illegal/immoral labor and to decrease crime, will be totally greatful if they recieved a donation.

    bottomline, who really cares?

what was the motive behind purchasing a certain bag?…
because of how much it costs, hoping it will set you apart from others?
because the bag makes YOU look good?
because you are purposely trying to support illegal/immoral behavior?
because you want to make others feel bad for you and make yourself look like you can’t get with the times?
because you are a rebel and want to be disrespectful?
OR, because you simply love the bag and it meets your needs?

    whatever your reason…Purse Lovers UNITE!!!
(okay okay, that was a little cheesy)

P.S. THE SPY BAG IS AWSOME!!!

maybe someone who never saw the original bag will not see the difference between them – but come on, i own a spy bag and i can spot a fake from miles away – they just don’t use real leather ,the stitching is not so neat – there is a huge difference !

a friend of mine also challenged me once and said something like – oh you can’t tell the difference – she’s got a fake – i got a real one – when we put them side by side – it was a world of difference!

also why do you need to buy a fake bag and support all the illegal stuff? i just don’t get it – there is nothing wrong with not being able to afford luxury bags, besides not for anything but even nine west and other affordable brands make quite nice looking bags + plus you know for sure that it was done “the right way” and no 10 year olds suffered to make this bag !

A co-worker of mine always buys fakes , and i tell her all the time that she just don’t look like the kind of a person who can afford a real one (she is a single mother of 2 , always sloppily dressed, she just doesn’t take care of herself, !)- and there is nothing wrong with that, but she arguments her choices by saying that she wants to feel what it feels like to be rich – the most ridiculous excuse ever !
