Recently I have been learning that purple hues are great on a blond haired blue eyed gal like me, just not on the eyes no matter what any magazine says. But is a plum metallic bag a good idea on me? Marc, it is like you start to do better and then it all goes downhill again.
Take this Marc Jacobs Mariah Metallic Bag which introduces undeniably tacky to unfortunately ornate in a sick sort of way. There is plum metallic leather along with really gold chain link handles and hardware. Not brushed gold, shiny nasty gold. To give this bag a little boost, I must admit that I have not seen it in person so it may be a tad better, but I highly doubt it. I’m trying hard to like it, but this bag is the equivalent of metallic purple shadow on my eyes (with with my sometimes darker circles would amount to a train wreck).

The bag is actually BEAUTIFUL in person. I am drooling for the Copper one myself (since I am neither blond, or blue eyed). Anyway, check it in person. The chains are not nearly as bright in person. Or maybe they are and my personal tastes are just that Vegas!
I got myself one venetian marc jacob bag which is almost similar to this bag. It’s beautiful indeed and very functional too. The problem is that it doesnt provide special case for mobile phone, so it makes you difficult to grab your phone when it’s ringing. The other thing is that it quite heavy specially with that gold chain. Once I put an empty bag in a scale and turn out it weighs almost 2 kg !
I saw two of these things, one in bonze and one in this colour, and I think they were horrible. They were in the sales section of a high end store in Amsterdam for 395 euros! They remained there for some weeks and then were taken into storage to try again in next sale. I guess no one liked them enough, not even for this price. I certainly didn’t.
However, the soft-tuned pink version is absolutely fabulous! I still regret for not purchasing it in Chicago. Is there anyone who knows where I can still find this bag in pink? Net-a-porter only has the bag in purple unfortunately and the store in Chicago totally sold out the bag. Anyone, please? I looked everywhere.
