You know who we don’t hear about often enough? Salvatore Ferragamo. The reason why has nothing to do with a lack of appreciation or love of Ferragamo bags. We have seen bags that have caught our attention and have yet to loose it (remember the Carlotta Alligator Tote).

One of the signature attributes for Ferragamo bags is the circular hardware. But we found a bag that lacks that while not lacking the beauty that we have come to expect. A simplistic and cute bag, the Salvatore Ferragamo Miss Vara Bow Tote still shows rich leather and a classy design. The only thing that I would like to see different in this bag is a larger shape. When I carry a tote, I like a substantial tote. And being as tall as I am it takes a pretty roomy size. Dimensions of this bag are 13″W X 10″H X 5″D.

The rest of the design is easy and flows beautifully. The leather on Ferragamo bags is top quality, buttery soft and smooth. The bow front touch adds a nice feminine touch. As I said above, all I would personally want is larger dimensions and longer strap drops. But other than that, this is a cute tote from Ferragamo.

Buy via Saks for $890 [black here] [metallic here].

This reminds me of an understated Valentino tote (if there were such a thing). WANT! :)

oooo, the gold one is gorgeous! btw, the “circular” hardware is called the gancino/gancini logo, it’s Ferragamo’s signature. the vara bow is from ferragamo’s signature shoe, which never goes on sale in black, called the vara.

I actually did see a bigger Miss Vara tote both in Nylon and Leather in stores. The bow is at the side instead of it being right smack in the middle. The bigger Miss Vara tote is definitely more youthful and edgy.

I like this tote and the fact that it’s a medium. I have scoliosis so I don’t like the large bags because they would be stuffed. Besides, they look like overnighters instead of handbags. This really cute, and I would totally buy it if money were no object.

I love this bag! It is absolutely luxe, feminine, and so soft I’d like to sink my teeth into it! I think the proportion of this bag is absolutely perfect, but I need a much bigger bag so I opted for the larger “Miss Vara” tote, carried at Bloomy’s, but from the Ferragamo boutique (I have 2 near me) where they call it the Sally. I was really torn between the two colors, “skin” and black, and even more torn between the two sizes. There is actually another size, in the medium range, ($1150 at Saks, dimensions: 14″W X 10″H X 4″D) that is an oblong hobo which makes for a unique but slightly awkward silhouette. I decided on the largest version in the metallic “skin” ($1250 online at Bloomy’s or $1350 at the boutique, dimensions: 17.7″W x 15″H x 5.9″D) because A) I loved the oversized, slouchy, pleated silhouette with the bow on the side and B) there is just something special about the contrast of such a subtle nude color with such a luxe metallic finish. Also, the texture of the grosgrain bows next to the antique bronze hardware make it absolutely delicious. I’m big on playful contrasts: taking chances but remaining understatedly elegant. If you can relate, you will adore this bag in person. The photos just don’t do it any justice! The stitching, lining, hardware, and most importantly the leather are all impeccable and incomparable for other bags in at this price point. Plus.. there are matching wallets (with bows) and heels (with bows) and flats (with bows)!!!
