If you're sick of oxblood (as people insist on calling it - looks like burgundy to us), then go ahead and take a seat for Fall 2013, or at least for Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2013. The contemporary powerhouse showed lots of rich fall colors on the runway - tan, navy, charcoal - but the most arresting accents were those in rich shades of wine. Seems fitting for fall, doesn't it?
Most of the women's bags (Marc shows men's and women's during the same show) were small, structured midcentury throwbacks, and although the models all carried them by short double handles, the bags also boasted attachments that will no doubt yield crossbody straps once the bags hit retail. For the Marc by Marc customer, that's almost a prerequisite - it's fun to see a bag styled as a hand-carry option, but when it gets down to business, the Marc girl just wants to sling a small bag across her body to keep her hands free. That shouldn't be a problem for any of the fall options, even if Jacobs himself envisions them being used differently.
