Khirma’s Fall 2015 Collection is Full of Exotic Treasures

During New York Fashion Week, I had the opportunity to attend accessory designer Khirma Eliazov‘s Fall 2015 presentation. Eliazov’s handbag line, Khirma New York, specializes in exotic skins, including python, crocodile and water snake. Walking into the showroom, I was overwhelmed (in the best way possible, of course) by this alluring collection.

Khirma’s handbag aesthetic revolves around the luxury, femininity and sophistication of exotic skins. This season, Khirma chose to play with layering skins and colors, and the result is striking. The color palette includes everything from hunter green and neutral tones to heather gray and lavendar hues. The designer included some of her signature silhouettes, like the Celine Bucket Bag and the Corina Tote, which makes for a luxe-but-understated work tote. The brand also debuted new silhouettes, including a mini version of the Céline bucket bag, a new interpretation of the envelope clutch and a new minaudière box clutch.

The bags are just as exquisite in person as they are in the pictures, if not more so. My eye kept drifting to the python pouch. It has a very Coachella-esque feel to it, but trust me when I say you’ll find multiple uses (and excuses) for such a pouch. It can be worn as a belt bag, shoulder bag and even as a crossbody bag. (I tried it out myself, and it did indeed work in all those different ways.) I will admit, even though I’ve had my troubles with exotic bags in the past, I still can’t help but swoon over many of the bags in this collection.

You can shop the spring collection now via Saks.
