In some ways, London Fashion Week is my favorite, season after season. It’s the shortest of all the cities – something of a Fashion Long Weekend, if we’re being honest – and in that space, it packs in tons of incredibly talented young designers who are doing bold, sometimes even brave, things with clothing, alongside a few bold-face names like Burberry and, this season, Tom Ford.
The downside of LFW, at least as it pertains to what we do here, is that few of the designers who grace us with their presences are known for bags, and a lot of them don’t even make so much as a clutch. Still, we tracked down 10 lust-worthy runway handbags from the runways of London Fashion Week Fall 2013, from beautiful exotics in traditional shapes to, well, the kind of zaniness for which London fashion is known.
When I think of British handbags, the first brand I think of is Mulberry. Its show was full of beautiful bags, including this yellow ostrich ultra-structured stunner.
For Mulberry, Fall 2013 also marked the debut of the simple, elegant Mulberry Suffolk Bag.
I’ve never thought about TopShop Unique as a source for interesting bags, but this dark red fur (is that fur?) and black leather satchel has my interest piqued.
Matthew Williamson is usually known for his colors and embellishments, but this textured black shoulder bag is a nice departure.
This Louis Grey clutch looks like a weathered find that someone plucked out of obscurity at a thrift shop, and I mean that as a compliment.
Louis Grey isn’t a traditional luxury handbag designer, but this big, bold tote is pretty fun.

Most of Burberry’s Fall 2013 bags were squishy pouches carried in models’ hands, but this bold satchel stood out from the pack.
This Christopher Kane Cage Clutch was unquestionable the best evening bag of the week.
