Zagliani Metallic Python Clutch

Last week, dear readers, I told you all about the Kooba Ashley in metallic python print and how it managed to miss the mark, despite a number of things (the gorgeous color, my soft spot for Kooba, etc.) working in its favor. The commenters mostly agreed; the consensus seemed to be a firm “…eh.” Since then, I’ve been casually looking for another metallic python bag with which to compare it. Hey, maybe the Kooba people (or at least their interns) read this blog, and maybe they could use a few suggestions on how to improve. The Purse Blog: not afraid to be servicey.

Now THIS, ladies and gentleman, is how you do metallic python. This is what the Kooba metallic faux python wants to be when it grows up. The folks at Zagliani, unquestionably, know how to do python bags correctly – they inject the skins with silicone, which apparently gives them their silky soft texture and plump look. Whether or not that actually makes a difference or if it’s just a marketing gimmick, I’m not particularly concerned – their bags are hot. End of story. As long as they’re making hot bags, they could be claiming they were sprinkled with fairy dust, and I’d just smile and nod and ask if I could hold it. And possibly have some fairy dust.

Not only is the material itself beyond gorgeous, but the pleating accents the texture of the skins and the variation in scale size, and the minimal hardware doesn’t compete for attention on the Zagliani Metallic Python Clutch. At 13” wide, the size seems ample (there’s nothing I hate more than an undersized clutch) without being too big for cocktail use and the front turn-lock closure is exceptionally subtle and elegant. Buy through Saks for $1500.

Are all you other bag designers out there listening???
