The fun thing about working on Purse Blog and Purse Blog Savvy is that we get to see similar designs from different designers with a wide variety of price differences. It is not that I am always hunting out the look for less, in fact, the look for less rarely finds me, as I manage to somehow find the look for more. But that is neither here nor there. The point is that two days ago on Purse Blog Savvy I covered the Rag & Bone Leather Clutch which retails for $255 and was liked by the readers. Under $300 seems to be a great price for the handbag lovers out there. And while I was browsing Saks I ran into a very similar blue leather clutch from Zac Posen, that just happens to cost about 3.9 times more.
So now I can introduce you to the Zac Posen Calen Large Lock Clutch, which is designed with rich crackle leather from Italy, and see if this blue clutch is worth the 4 times higher tag. So first we have the designer, Zac Posen. He is well-know, sought after, and a premiere designer. His leather will no doubt be super luxurious and plush. The details will be seen with the handy bracelet strap and bold silvertone hardware. But the rest? The design is a clutch, we see clutches all day. The inside is lined with embossed leather, which I quite like, and features a zip pocket and two open pockets. Dimensions are 14″W X 8″H. So what would you do? A similar blue clutch for $255, or give Zac Posen nearly $1,000 because he is, afterall, Zac Posen and he does work with ideal materials, and that thereby justifies the price. Buy through Saks for $995.
