Marc Jacobs has been pushing his handbag line hoping to make it a great contender with the already popular designer handbags out there. As prices increase, Marc Jacobs is pushing his collection to go up against the on-top and expensive handbags in the fashion industry. The Marc Jacobs Hutton Clutch features black woven leather, reminiscent of Bottega Veneta yet not as intricate or delicate, along with a contrast flap over top. An ornate turnlock fastening on the front finishes the outside off, while the inside is lined with beige leather and there is a zip pocket. Dimensions are 11″ x 7″ x 2″. Fab or Drab?

Everyone should own an exotic bag. A clutch is always the perfect exotic, because it helps taper the price and exotics can be dressed up quite nicely. If the price of an exotic is too steep, go for a lookalike. The Oscar de la Renta Python Clutch is designed with patent leather that appears “pythoned”. This bronze clutch is the perfect hand-candy for an elegant affair or just a night out with friends. Dimensions are 6.5″ x 3″ x 1.5″. Many clutches look very similar to the next. Small and handheld. Obviously this is the basis of a clutch, but I find it mundane to look at every clutch in a room looking like a sister to every other. Remaining small and handheld, the Armani Linea Python Clutch‘s cylinder shape and python offer the perfect dimensions to set this clutch apart. There is not much else this clutch has to show, just a straightforward bag with an exotic skin and lovely shape. Lined in black lining, this clutch closes with an extended tab closure. Two days ago was the highly anticipated Marc Jacobs show at Fashion Week. In true MJ style, the show began over two hours late, the show went backwards with Marc walking the stage first followed by the procession of all models then individual walks, and the clothing seemed to be missing key pieces. What was not missing was the long list of hot celebs who showed up. Among them was the natural beauty Elisha Cuthbert, who showed off her curvaceous body with a tight tucked in shirt, high waisted pants, and sleek pulled back hair. In her hand is a brand new clutch, the Marc by Marc Jacobs Collection Stones Clutch, which combines simplicity in design with a modern appeal in the logo-etched metal and stone ornament on front. Elisha must have a special edition of the clutch with an exotic crocodile body, but the clutch available to the ‘regular’ folks, like me, comes in black leather. I will not know if Elisha loved the show, but she looked great arriving at it. Buy via eLuxury for $1650.

Monday is obviously all about metallics. While too much metallic on too large a handbag can be too dominant. Spice up your wardrobe with metallic accessories, such as a clutch. I am in love with the cute and feminine Salvatore Ferragamo Gancio Banshee Clutch. Always a fan of Ferragamo shoes, the handbags have slowly made their way into my handbag spectrum. Meticulously designed, like the shoes, this Ferragamo clutch is designed with a textured leather and features a section of woven detail with tasseled drawstrings in on the front. The slight bronze leather is rich and stunning, offering the perfect meeting of playful and sophisticated. A fold over flap pocket leads way to canvas lining and an interior zip along with 3 open pockets. Don’t be fooled, this hand candy is a substantial size, measuring 14″W X 8″H X 1″D. While the price is high, the size and craftsmanship behind the brand make it understandable. The perfect metallic clutch, buy via Saks for $950.

The gold glimmer is just what today is about, that is because, it is my birthday! The perfect party clutch, the Nancy Gonzalez Lizard Clutch is available in either gold or pewter metallic lizard on a framed top clutch. Because gray is the new black, the pewter is the perfect option. On the inside there is suede lining yet no interior pocket. With the dimensions being 5 1/2″H x 8 1/2″W x 1 2/5″D, this is a true handheld clutch. Available via Bergdorf Goodman for $1265.

My mind is blank because what I will be showing you all tomorrow will blow your mind! My birthday presents are the epitome of chic and luxurious and they should have you all drooling.

Some clutches are meant for a five-star dinner, some are meant for black-tie events, and some are for a night on the town with friends. The latter needs to be cute, sturdy, but not super expensive.
