Clutches are such a conundrum. Not only are they the smallest, least often-used bags of all the major categories, but they’re some of the most expensive purses on the market because of the amount of embellishment and detail that goes into some of them. It’s hard to believe that what is essentially a frame-structured silk pouch can sometimes cost as much as an all-leather everyday bag from the same brand, but that’s exactly the case with the Valentino Silk Georgette Rosette Clutch, which rings up at $2495. If you’re keeping score, that’s only $100 less than the white Valentino Rockstud Tote that I’m so obsessed with.

Of course, that just means that we had to go out and find a less-expensive alternative for this pretty little clutch, and that’s exactly what we did. Check out our alternative (and its much lower price) after the jump.

I LOVE evening clutches.  Nothing better than having to take them out of their dust bags (I like how good bags come in their own bag !) or boxes to decide which one to take.

So if the Valentino Silk Georgette Rose clutch is made with silk roses it is going to be deliciously soft. I like that it is a longer length design. I hate it when you can’t get more than your phone and a lipgloss in a purse. And a closer look shows a beautiful crystal embellished clasp and red lining !
The cheaper petal style purse is very well priced and I like it too except I wish it had a longer clasp.

that valentino clutch is so beautiful! but yeah, evening clutches are definitely not a priority for me.
and the other clutch looks a little unfinished to me, i think it’d start to fray really quickly
