The Look for Less: Ombre Woven Clutches

When I was looking for bags to feature in one of last week’s wedding guides, I came across the stunning Kotur Barnes Ombre Woven Clutch. I was immediately smitten – the way that the ultra bright colors mingle in the middle is so unique and so memorable that I couldn’t get the bag out of my head. It seems as though I wasn’t the only one who had that reaction; since that post went up, I’ve had a few friends mention the Kotur clutch in particular as a standout.

$450 isn’t an outrageous price in the least when you compare it to some of the bags that we write about, but we try to be sensitive to the fact that it’s still a lot to pay for a bag that you might only use a few times per season. Naturally, that’s where this edition of Look for Less and the Serpui Marie Marrakech Minaudiere come in.

Kotur has been making the woven Barnes Clutch for quite some time, although this particular color scheme is new this season. Because I don’t know the full story behind Serpui Marie as a brand, I don’t really feel like it would be fair to call this clutch a ripoff – unless I know for a fact who came first, I’d rather live and let live and enjoy both options. And both of them are great – vibrant, chic and totally perfect for warm weather. At $185, Serpui Marie will save you some money that you can then use on things like gauzy maxi dresses and margaritas.

Personally, I think the Kotur clutch is the clear winner, as far as aesthetics go. The shape is perfect, and the lack of external closure lets you appreciate the lines (not to mention it put all the attention where it should be – on the great big tassel and all the color variation). Both clutches come in multiple color of options if neither of these suit your fancy. Which do you prefer?
