Yesterday Amanda asked you all if you think Christian Louboutin should stick to shoes. I personally do not think he needs to, he has released some amazing bags. The problem is that some other bags have been not so amazing, bordering on downright confusing. I understand the spunky design of many Christian Louboutin shoes. Call me safe, but when it comes to making a bold and quirky design, a pair of shoes is a better fit. (more…)
Christian Louboutin has been far more successful with shoes than he has been with bags, and I’m having a hard time figuring out exactly why that is. Surely the design processes for each is decidedly differently, but for a brand with as many resources and as much style as Louboutin’s, I would expect better results.
Most of CL’s shoes have an inherent feminine sass to them that just doesn’t come through in designs like the Christian Louboutin Trophe Stud Bag. Louboutin has designed many a gorgeous shoe featuring zippers and studs, but his bag design with the same motif just doesn’t work exactly like it should. (more…)
Usually with these Look for Less posts, one of the looks very clearly begat the other. The ultra-luxury brands come up with an idea, and then all of the mid-range brands rush to do their spin on the burgeoning trend to capture customers that might not have the cash on hand to splurge on the bag that technically came first. Surprisingly, that’s not at all the case with the Christian Louboutin Maelita Bowler Bag (left) and the Marc by Marc Jacobs Tavi Piercing Shoulder Bag (right). In fact, the two bags showed up on the New Arrivals page at Saks on the exact same day. (more…)
Despite my overwhelming love for black, I always seem to bypass black handbags. My theory is that since I wear so much black clothing, when it comes to accessories, I should experiment with color in at least my handbag and shoes. I’m a big fan of a black-on-black look, but if you’re pale like I am and wear too much black all at one time, well, people start to stare. The fact that I dye my hair black probably doesn’t help my cause.
Sometimes, though, there’s a black bag that’s just too fabulous for me to resist. This time, it’s the Christian Louboutin Tinzita Shoulder Bag that has me in its grasp. I’m sure that there are other colors out there for this particular bag, but there’s something about the super-soft black leather that’s got my attention. (more…)
Some handbags out there that bring an instant smile to my face. There isn’t necessarily a common theme in the bags that bring me such happiness, but that’s quite alright. Perhaps it has to do with my mood or perhaps it just has to do with the bag itself. I am not really bothered by why I can’t seem to figure out what makes me smile about some bags more than others; in fact, it is rather refreshing.
Speaking of refreshing and putting a smile on my face, let’s take a look at this Christian Louboutin bag. This bag completely encompasses that je ne sais quoi aspect that I completely love in a bag. It is fun, flirty, ferocious and feminine all wrapped into one. (more…)
In grade school we had to do a project on Joan of Arc. I don’t remember any specifics other than if you dressed up you got extra credit. And being the type A personality that I am, extra credit was just about the best thing ever. Any way to make a grade go over 100% or get multiple check plus plus or A ++ had my name all over it. And give me a sticker that says “You’re a Star!“, whew, that was like Christmas morning. So, I didn’t just dress up. My mom and I drove all over town to find the most authentic-looking Joan of Arc ensemble. I had a metal chain vest on while I presented, and it was awesome.
All I can’t think about when I see this Christian Louboutin bag is that day back in 3rd grade. Granted the Christian Louboutin Carillon Quilted Clutch is not made of metal, rather silver quilted leather with sequined disc embellishment. This effect from afar appears like pounded circular metal and I love it. (more…)
It’s really nasty here in South Florida today. While we don’t have snow or bitter cold, we have torrential rain that just doesn’t seem to want to let up today. I was hoping to come across a great bag to boost my mood, but instead, I came across a Christian Louboutin bag that I don’t really like. Now, you have to understand, that is saying a lot because I usually love all things and everything Louboutin. I want to like this bag. I am actually trying really hard to like this bag, but I just don’t think I can. (more…)
Ladies and gents, take a deep breath before you look at this bag. It is just *that* gorgeous. I need this bag to be mine. I know that we’ve all been debating for quite some time now about “to stud or not to stud”.
However, in this instance, hands down, studding was the way to go. This bag exudes all of the grace, elegance and sexiness that Christian Louboutin has been know for with shoes. And now, with handbags. (more…)
Back in the middle of 2007, I found a couple of Christian Louboutin bags that were ultimately unsightly. At the time I asked Christian Louboutin to stick to what he knows, shoes. Luckily he both listened and did not listen to me: updating his handbag collection to make the beautiful pieces we knew he had in him and make his name a contender in the handbag world.
Now we continue to find Christian Louboutin bags that we adore. The designs are no longer lacking innovation. We are continuously turning to Christian Louboutin for everyday bags, evening bags, and occasional pieces. (more…)
I’ve always been critical of Christian Louboutin handbags in the past, but I’ve seen a few that I don’t hate in the past season. With all the design genius in that company, I knew they would pull together their handbag line sooner or later, and they appear to be slowly but surely turning out some purses that do justice to their drool-worthy shoes. The Christian Louboutin Lolita Montone Bag is surely a step in the right direction. (more…)
It looks like Christian Louboutin might finally be getting the hang of this whole handbag thing, finally. Christian, if you’re out there: it’s perfectly fine to do your best bag work right now in clutches. Once you start producing reliably in that arena, we can move on to bigger bags and concepts.
I believe in you, really I do, despite the fact that I’ve criticized many of your bags in the past (love your shoes though, natch). The Christian Louboutin Loubiday Nappa Clutch, for example? You’re showing tons of potential. (more…)
