First, I’d like to say that I don’t like pink bags. Or pink in general. I was a tomboy as a kid and although I’m a girly girl now, I don’t think I ever quite grew out of my irritation over the belief that all girls love pink. We don’t! That being said, I’d like to completely contradict myself by liking the Chloe Ethel Tote. It’s pink. Quite pink, even though Nordstrom calls it purple. And not a shade of pink that I normally embrace. Maybe it’s the kicky little orange handles that are clouding my judgment, but this leather (it’s lambskin, drool) looks so soft and smooshy and WONDERFUL that it could be the color of poop and I’d probably still want one. If there’s one way to make my eyes glaze over and my jaw go slack, it’s lambskin. So maybe I’m merely willing to overlook the pink in favor of embracing the leather, which is nothing if not embraceable. Also take note of the price – while certainly not a bargain by any means, Several people complained about the price point of the Chloe Sally Bag that we reviewed earlier this week, and this one comes in a full $600 lower for a bag with more supple leather. Suddenly, $1395 doesn’t seem so bad. Pre-order through Nordstrom for $1395.
I saw the Chloe Sally Flap Bag yesterday at Saks in Atlanta and thought to myself that I’d really like to be able to write about it, but it’d probably be a while before I saw it online. I check all of my favorite sites for new bags basically every day, and it hadn’t appeared on any of them even for a moment, so I figured that all was lost. Sometimes bags don’t make it to the internet, and sometimes if they do, it’s so woefully late that there’s not much of a point in writing about them. So I was delighted when I got home from the mall and found that the bag had suddenly become available for presale at Nordstrom (who has really stepped up their game recently when it comes to designer bags, in my humble opinion). In person, the bag is deceptively simple: it looks like a normal, medium-sized flap bag at first, but I found myself impressed at how clean and precise its lines were. The pebbled leather also makes it a more casual option than a Chanel flap while still being some of the most beautiful textured leather I’ve seen in while; it’s sturdy but soft at the same time. From the front, it also looks much smaller than it is – at the bottom, it is a good bit deeper than a similar Chanel. The strap is long but not nearly long enough to be a crossbody bag, and the overall effect is tailored and polished, just like it should be to be a part of the “flap bag” trend that is gaining steam. This bag and those like it appear to be a pointed response to the needlessly huge bags of seasons past, and they’re making a very good argument for themselves. Pre-order through Nordstrom for $1995.
Canvas on a bag, especially in a light color as this one, is especially hard to care for. In fact, it is practically a lost cause. Any little bit of wear will show on canvas, starting with the corners and creases and then it will eventually spread. It does not mean that I have not tried many canvas bags before, and while they got dirty, I treated them as carefully as possible so they could still look nice over time. And while there are so many reasons why you should not own a canvas bag, every spring and resort time I am drawn to them. It must be the pairing of different materials and the contrast of colors. I am not putting it on my wishlist but the Chloe Andy Canvas Tote but the color combination of olive and oatmeal pairs together magnificently. The Andy is a new shape for Chloe Bags; handheld, small, and young. I am not sold on the Andy, not sold on the materials, but I do profess my love of the color combination. There is a zip around the bottom to expand, two zipped pockets at the sides, and a zipped pocket on the inside. Buy through Net A Porter for $1,375.
Is it the Paraty or the Paratay? Net A Porter and Saks seem to think differently on the spelling of this hit Chloe bag. The luscious python version of the Paraty got the handbag world buzzing, questioning the designer and desiring to be on the wait list. The python version had my full attention as well. But last week when I saw the Paratay in Saks I was left feeling not completely satisfied. It was not that I was totally unimpressed, but I was at least partially unimpressed. Nothing overly amazing in person and I even saw it in a luscious hue of green. I can blame the lackluster feeling on my shopping ban though, so I may have a skewed perception. This mustard yellow color is rich and beautiful on the Chloe Paratay Tote which will slide over the shoulder for a day tote. The color is called chrome yellow and is available for pre-order at Saks now. The goldtone details offset the leather coloring perfectly and the dimensions of the tote are 21″W X 14½”H X 8¼”H. Buy through Saks for $2,195.
The ultimate question, how do you really spell the name of this bag: Paraty or Paratay?
Just a quick FYI for those who care and those who love the Chloe Paraty Bag! It popped up last week on NAP UK and this week on NAP USA. Seems to be sold out already. Really, do so many of you absolutely adore it? I saw it in person and it did not give me the same instant WOW factor that I yearn for. That could also be due to the fact that it was nearby the hoard of designer handbags piled on top of each other on a plastic table for the sale table at Saks. Either way, Chloe lovers should check back and it may pop up again for the US lovers of the Chloe Python Paraty! $3820 via NAP.
There has not been as much hype for a Chloe bag since the highly sought after and coveted Paddington. Which bag am I referring to? The Chloe Paraty of course. This bag was first spotted on celebs, namely Katie Holmes. Once seen, the buzz began over this casual cool bag. Once it was figured out to be the Chloe Paraty Bag in python the masses began calling Chloe boutiques to get their names on a wait list. Our UK readers have a little treat though, as the Chloe Paraty Bag in black python has showed up on the Net A Porter UK site. This Chloe Bag is not available on the US page (although I really wish it was!). So if you have been lusting after the Chloe Paraty, you live in the UK, and you have some extra holiday spending money, go and buy your very own Paraty for £1,742 at Net A Porter UK. (more…)
Somebody is listening to us!!! I covered See by Chloe bags recently on Purse Blog and was less than impressed. There was no beauty, no concept, just lack of creativity in their bags. Now I found a See by Chloe bag that works. And while this brand would typically fit on Purse Blog Savvy, I am going to un-shame the See by Chloe line on Purse Blog.
The See by Chloe Slouchy Hobo is completely my style. Black soft and smooshy lambskin is used in this slouchy hobo which will easily fit over your shoulder and give a casual chic look. I know many of you will completely dislike the contrast tab on the front, but it is detachable, which is brilliant. You could use the tab as a key chain or just dangle it in your house somewhere (or toss it, totally up to you). This bag has a total boho vibe, very easy to wear, very simple style, comfortable appeal. There is a front zipped compartment and an internal pouch pocket. To me, this bag is a redeemable See by Chloe Bag. There was also the See by Chloe Day Tripper Bag, which had a celebrity following, but this slouchy hobo is the winner from the line in my book. Buy through Net A Porter for $570.
It’s Wednesday. What better way to get over the mid-week hump than spending a little time drooling over handbags? While you sit there thinking how your nefarious boss keeps piling up the work while all you want to do is kick back for a minute, fear not, take even just a few minutes with this clutch and you’ll feel refreshed.
I am not usually one to sport really bright colors. I should probably venture out from my comfort zone a bit and add bright colors to my repertoire. Maybe I can get started with this Chloé Elongated Lizard Clutch. At first glance, the green resembled the hue of green that comes to mind when I think Art Deco and I kind of like it. The water monitor lizard clutch is adorned with gold hardware and is secured with a turnlock. I’ve been on the fence with a few Chloé handbags in the past, but this is one I am excited about. You will no doubt spruce up your outfit with the material and color combination of this clutch. I am always a little wary when it comes to sporting too much red or green around the holidays, but this shade of green doesn’t scream christmas tree or anything like that. I say this bag is a hit! Add it to your collection through Net-a-Porter for $1,575.
Chloe Heloise Bowler Bag
So, we’re all familiar with the Chloe Heloise bag. It’s been out for a few seasons now, and interest in it may have died down a bit, although it is, by all accounts, a beautiful and functional bag with a bit of a funky edge (something that Chloe does well). Something that Chloe also does well – milk an ‘it’ bag for all it’s worth (hey, not that I can blame them)! So now, we have yet another incarnation of the Heloise bag: the New Chloe Heloise Bowler. I little shorter, a little squater, and a little wider than the original, it still has all the elements that tell everyone “Hey, y’all, I’m a Chloe!” The straps and finish of the bag remain largely the same, but I’m not complaining: I thought it was beautiful when it first appeared on the market, and why tinker too much with something that you did right the first time? What caught my eye about this bag in particular is the color: cobalt blue is supposed to be THE color next season, and getting such a vivid shade in the thick, buttery leather for which Chloe is famous must be rather difficult. They pull it off with aplomb, however; the color is even, bright, and true blue. Buy through Saks for $2030.
This week has been one of those weeks where I feel like I have accomplished a lot, but at the same time there is so much more to do. Anyone else having that kind of week? Well, when I feel like all I do is run around, I need to have a handbag with me that can endure the back and forth as well as the shoes I am wearing. The Chloé Bay Medium Tote looks like it is the kind of bag that would be up for the challenge. Actually, I was a little surprised when I first saw this bag. I am used to Chloé bags being a little more ornate, but I am definitely not complaining. The light grey destressed calfskin bag looks so soft and touchable. (Didn’t that almost sound like I was describing a hair product?) The front and back zip pockets with large leather pulls offers the option of stuffing your to-do-list or something you need immediate access to within close reach. The double handles appear to be extremely durable which is always a huge plus for a daily use bag. No, there is nothing flashy or unique about this bag, but it is one is functional and youthful. Buy through Bluefly for $1,344.
Chloe Messenger Bag
Cross-body style messenger bags have always been a huge love of mine. The hands free option is always a plus and after a few minutes you forget that you even have a bag slung across your body. But there are some major drawbacks when it comes to cross-body messenger bags. How and where does the strap hit? No need for the overly split up chest.
I have been eying the Chloe Messenger Bag since it popped up online and finally decided to share it with you. Though my thoughts on this bag will not be sealed until I see it in person and actually try it on. If it splits my chest in an odd misshapen two-oranges kind of way, I am totally over this bag. But let me get back to what this bag offers. There is a cream and dark version, one slightly larger than the next. There are three gold-tone chain shoulder straps. Another foreseeable problem is the mark the chains will leave on your shoulder or arm (this happens to many with their Chanel bags). There are two pockets at the front and a long zip across the top. Love it or leave it? Buy through Net A Porter for $1695 or $1960.
I have to say, I always have an eye out for a great tote. I mean, when you think about it, isn’t it great to just throw all your stuff for the day in a bag and go? Don’t get me wrong, I love smaller bags and clutches, but for day to day use, I think totes are amazing. More often times than not, like most people, I find myself leaving early in the morning and not getting home until dinner. This being said, on any given day, there could be a lot I need to carry with me. So, when I caught a glimpse of the Chloe Oversized Leather Tote, I had to share it with you.
Without a doubt, the first thing that grabbed my attention was the fabulous blue color of the bag. Chloe designers get a gold star in my book by using such a bright, beautiful blue on this bag. The combination of silver hardware and patent trim bring a little something extra to the bag. At the same time, I love that the bag comes with a small coin purse trinket; it is as if there is a nice bonus with the bag! And of course the black canvas lining paired with the blue leather screams chic and classy – my favorite. Since the bag seems like it might be big enough, I could even drop my laptop in it as I head to a coffee shop to catch up on some work. All in all, I could totally see myself sporting this not only during one season, but instead, throughout the entire year! Buy through Net-A-Porter for $1,790.00.
