Chloe Paraty Tote

Is it the Paraty or the Paratay? Net A Porter and Saks seem to think differently on the spelling of this hit Chloe bag. The luscious python version of the Paraty got the handbag world buzzing, questioning the designer and desiring to be on the wait list. The python version had my full attention as well. But last week when I saw the Paratay in Saks I was left feeling not completely satisfied. It was not that I was totally unimpressed, but I was at least partially unimpressed. Nothing overly amazing in person and I even saw it in a luscious hue of green. I can blame the lackluster feeling on my shopping ban though, so I may have a skewed perception. This mustard yellow color is rich and beautiful on the Chloe Paratay Tote which will slide over the shoulder for a day tote. The color is called chrome yellow and is available for pre-order at Saks now. The goldtone details offset the leather coloring perfectly and the dimensions of the tote are 21″W X 14½”H X 8¼”H. Buy through Saks for $2,195.

The ultimate question, how do you really spell the name of this bag: Paraty or Paratay?

Megs, it’s spelled Paraty but pronounced Para-tay. I know this cos I did a short stint as a Chloe SA last month :)

I have always seen it spelled Paraty. I agree with you about this bag. I can’t quite put my finger on why it doesn’t please me enough to buy it. I first saw it six months ago at Chloe and thought it quite pretty, but only in black and in python. I like the black with the gold hardware. I think in the mustard the Paraty doesn’t have enough personality, it is just a neutral tote (for $2200.00 however). I am about to buy a bag in this color though because it looks great with jeans and I hear (here in Paris) that it’s going to be a big color for Spring. My choice is a Texier. It is a classic French brand that has totally overhauled their designs and they have a very nice store on the Rue St. Honore. They have a website with some of their collection and you can consult the catalogue too. http://www.texier.com

I think it is named after the Brazilian city of Paraty, which looks like a cool place to visit.

I love the Paraty! It’s so understated and practical. I can’t wait for the Spring runway version with an outside pocket.

I have to say, I think this bag is fabulous. I’m not feeling the ambivalence, I’m sold.

I like the bag – price excluded, hehe ;) – it’s really lighter than its appearance and I like the shape because it’s something different. I would tend to the green or black one.

I just purchased the Paraty shopper in black today. I love it. I have to agree, very understated, but so chic. I can dress it up or down. I wanted a classic black bag that I could use forever. This is it.
